  • Patent number: 9849424
Abstract: Described herein are various embodiments of a reductant decomposition system. According to one representative embodiment, the reductant decomposition system includes an exhaust gas chamber including an inlet and outlet. The system also includes a first exhaust gas distribution component positioned within the chamber and communicable in exhaust gas receiving communication with the outlet. The first exhaust gas distribution component causes swirling exhaust gas flow patterns within the exhaust gas chamber. Additionally, the system includes a second exhaust gas distribution component positioned within the chamber and communicable in exhaust gas providing communication with the inlet. The second exhaust gas distribution component includes features that cause a swirling exhaust gas flow pattern within a space defined by the second exhaust gas distribution component. Further, the system includes a reductant injector coupled to the exhaust gas chamber.

  • Patent number: 8296949
Abstract: An apparatus for designing a tubing configuration comprising modules that receive tube design input, interpret a tube design input, calculate a final tube design, and display a final tube design. The tube design input may include point locations, bend criteria and end conditions, among others. The apparatus may further include modules that determine whether the tube design input exceeds a complexity threshold, comprises a minimum set of information, and comprises a conflicting or erroneous design. The apparatus may further include modules that determine and optimize the manufacturing cost as well as determine the manufacturability of the tube. The apparatus may further include modules that store operational challenges corresponding to emissions reduction features and secondary components.

  • Publication number: 20080156569
Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for rapid design of emissions component installations. The method assists in the rapid design of emissions component installations by: interpreting a tube design input which may be an exhaust pipe with one or more aftertreatment components, calculating a final tube design and tube drawing, determining the manufacturability of the final tube design, determining the manufacturing cost of the final tube design, and displaying the drawing, manufacturability result, and manufacturing cost to a user. The method also evaluates the final tube design for portions that can be replaced with a more cost effective alternative. The method also receives the emissions reduction features of the installation from the user, and recommends secondary components to mitigate operational consequences, such as reduced fuel economy or reduced oil change intervals, of the emissions reduction features.
