  • Publication number: 20240028725
Abstract: Provided is a data processing arrangement (100, 200, 300, 400) that is coupled to a data memory arrangement (102) and is configured to generate a file catalog including information describing characteristics of data files stored within the data memory arrangement. The file catalog is periodically updated so that it provides a temporal record of the information. The data processing arrangement is configured to determine a behavioral profile (404) indicative of temporal trends or patterns in the information, and to provide a warning indication in an event that the information for a given data file temporally changes in a manner that deviates more than a threshold amount from a model of expected temporal trends or patterns of the given data file.

  • Publication number: 20240012721
Abstract: Provided is a computer-implemented method of backup and restore in a network data storage system (200, 310). The method includes generating, at a predefined time interval, a series of one or more virtual snapshots including, for each item in the network data storage system: (i) a strong hash of the item data, and (ii) one or more metadata elements related to the item. The method includes, in response to a request to restore a particular item: (i) searching the series of virtual snapshots for all available sources of the particular item, (ii) identifying the best source for the particular item, and (iii) recovering item data for the particular item from the identified best source.

  • Publication number: 20230414106
Abstract: A method and apparatus of detecting life in a wearer of a body-worn device includes at least a temperature sensor and a motion sensing device (e.g., an accelerometer) interfaced or within the body-worn device, each coupled to the wearer of the body worn device to measure body temperature of the wearer as well as movement of the wearer. Further sensors such as heart beat sensors are also anticipated for improved accuracy. The method and apparatus of detecting life declares that the wearer is dead after successive periodic readings of temperature have continually changed at a predetermined rate and no movement has been detected by the motion sensing device for a predetermined period of time. In some embodiments, the motion sensing device is a three-axis accelerometer.

  • Publication number: 20230409525
Abstract: A method of data management in a data storage system including a plurality of data storage units, the method includes dividing each file in the data storage system into a plurality of blocks having a common size. The method further includes generating a hash value for each block using a common hash algorithm. The method further includes identifying a plurality of similar files in different data storage units, based on a comparison of the hashes for each file. The method further includes copying one or more of the identified similar files, such that similar files are stored in a single data storage unit and for one or more of the copied files, generating a link to a new location of the file. The method provides an efficient, effective, and adequate reduction of the primary storage as well as the secondary storage space.

  • Publication number: 20230199620
Abstract: A method of detecting and disabling offending devices includes monitoring for a radio frequency signal. When an offending device initializes and registers with a cell tower, it emits the radio frequency signal. After the radio frequency signal is detected, a message including an identification of the radio frequency signal is transmitted to a receiver of a base station. Responsive to receiving the message, the base station sends a secure transaction that includes an indication of the radio frequency signal to a processor of a cellular carrier system. Responsive to receiving the secure transaction, the processor of the cellular carrier system correlates a time and the radio frequency signal with an account associated with the registration of the offending device, disconnects the offending device and/or disables an account associated with the offending device.

  • Patent number: 11169096
Abstract: A system and method for detecting degradation of a fiber optic in a strap of a body-worn device that is removably attached to an appendage or other location of a person or animal. A fiber optic is embedded within the strap. A light source emits light energy through the optical interface and into the fiber optic and a light sensor receives and detects light energy from the fiber optic. If the light energy is not received and detected from the fiber optic, the light energy is increased until the light energy is received and detected or reaches a maximum light energy at which time tampering is declared. If the light energy reaches a pre-determined threshold which is less than the maximum light energy, it is declared that the body-worn device requires servicing.

  • Patent number: 9882674
Abstract: A system provides for radio frequency detection of an offending device within a specific range of a body worn device. Upon detection of the radio frequency signal, the body worn device jams communications by the offending device and optionally communicates to an infrastructure to alert of the presence and optionally the location of the radio frequency signal, and therefore the offending device. In some embodiments, the user and/or location of the body worn device is/are revealed and the source of the radio frequency signal is readily determined for confiscation of the offending device. Other optional features include locating/tracking of the body worn device (and wearer) detection of tampering with the body worn device, and detection of cloaking of the body worn device (e.g. submerging in water or covering with aluminum foil, etc.).
