  • Patent number: 9701590
Abstract: The invention provides a water repellent composition for treating porous substrates comprising an emulsion which includes water, at least one surfactant, and a siloxane copolymer having the formula (I) wherein R is an alkyl radical having 1 to 3 carbon atoms; a has a value of from 1 to 12; R? is an alkyl radical having 8 to 12 carbon atoms, b?2; (a+b) is at least 5. This composition shows a good depth of penetration of porous substrates especially reinforced concrete and has a low Volatile Organic Content to ASTM D 5095.

  • Publication number: 20130017359
Abstract: A lignocellulosic composite composition comprising: a) lignocellulosic pieces, b) one or more organic binders, c) hydrophobing agent in the form of a silicon containing material selected from (i) phenyl silsesquioxane resin, (ii) a reaction product of an aminosilane and alkylsilane, (iii) a resin emulsion and (v) a polydiorganosiloxane polymer having at least 2 Si—H groups having at least 2 Si—H groups per molecule in combination with either an aminosilane or an aminosiloxane or, in the absence of said aminosilane and said aminosiloxane when at least one organic binder (b) comprises primary or secondary amino groups. The hydrophobing agent is present in the composition in an amount of from about 0.05 to 3% by weight of the composition and is optionally wax free. Methods of preparation and uses are additionally discussed.

  • Publication number: 20120015108
Abstract: The invention provides a composition for improving the water repellency of a substrate, like a construction substrate for example a building component. This composition contains a mixture formed by combining: water, at least one water-repellent silicon-containing compound, which is a silicone resin, an alkoxysilane or a polysiloxane, a siloxane surfactant containing an alkylpoly(ethyleneoxy)siloxane group and an alkyl siloxane group, where the alkyl group contains 1-6 carbon atoms. The composition can be used on previous treated substrates or more generally on substrates which are difficult to wet or penetrate.
