  • Patent number: 11212100
Abstract: Systems and methods for facilitating use of physical tokens in a transit system are disclosed. In one implementation, a method for facilitating use of physical tokens by a server includes generating a token identifier and generating, using a private key associated with the server, a cryptographic signature based on the token identifier. The method further includes transmitting the token identifier and the cryptographic signature to a token dispenser. The token dispenser is configured to dispense a physical token, and the physical token is configured to provide the token identifier and the cryptographic signature to a token validator.

  • Patent number: 9625563
Abstract: Managing use of a location sensor on a computing device for energy efficiency. The location sensor is briefly initialized to measure the signal quality. The measured signal quality is compared to pre-defined signal criteria values. The signal criteria values correspond to acceptable energy consumption, for example. If the signal criteria values are satisfied, location information for the computing device is obtained. Otherwise, the location sensor is disabled without obtaining the location information. In some embodiments, a lower-energy location sensor is used to obtain location information to determine whether to enable a higher-energy location sensor based on expected energy consumption.

  • Patent number: 8890814
Abstract: An input device enabling a computer user to provide a range of inputs. The device comprises a body made up of a lower portion and an upper portion; an output interface; and a plurality of movement detectors arranged with the body to detect movements of the input device and based thereon to generate input signals for a computer or other device coupled to the output interface. The movement detectors are arranged to detect rotation about first and second axes defined by rotational movement of the upper portion relative to the lower portion, and movement of a actuatable element carried on one of the lower portion and the upper portion and actuatable independently of the other of the lower portion and the upper portion. The input device further comprises translational movement detectors, enabling a user to further provide three translational inputs.
