  • Patent number: 9201579
Abstract: According to various exemplary embodiments, user input of a single continuous gesture from a touch-sensitive surface of a first device to a touch-sensitive surface of a second device is detected. It is determined that the gesture corresponds to a drag-and-drop operation performed on an icon displayed on the touch-sensitive surface of the first device, the icon representing user profile information. Moreover, it is determined that the gesture terminates proximate to a job position user interface element in a job recruitment user interface window displayed on the touch-sensitive surface of the second device. Thereafter, the user profile information of the user is transferred from the first device to the second device.

  • Publication number: 20150248739
Abstract: A system and method are provided for recommending courses to members of a social networking system. The social networking system stores a plurality of member profiles associated with a plurality of members of the social networking system, wherein each member profile includes one or more skills associated with the member. Then, for a respective first member in the plurality of members, the social networking system determines one or more suggested skills for the respective first member based on the one or more skills stored in the respective first member's profile. The social networking system then selects one or more educational courses from a plurality of available educational courses based on the determined suggested skills and transmits the one or more selected educational courses to an electronic device associated with the member for display.

  • Publication number: 20150220646
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments relate to a system for identifying member profiles containing disallowed content in an online social network. During operation, the system scans member profiles looking up words from one or more fields in “bad-word” and/or “good-word” dictionaries. These dictionaries were previously generated by examining member profiles that were judged by a human reviewer to be “good” profiles or “bad” profiles, and determining whether a word belongs in a specific dictionary based on frequencies of occurrence of the word in the good profiles and the bad profiles. Next, the system computes a score for each member profile based at least partially on occurrences of words from the dictionaries in the member profile. Finally, the system identifies a member profile as containing disallowed content based on the score.

  • Publication number: 20150145671
Abstract: Techniques pertaining to wearable technology are described. According to various embodiments, one or more sensors embedded in or attached to an article of clothing detect that the clothing is in physical contact with a user at a particular time. Thereafter, it is determined that the article of clothing is being worn by the user at the particular time, based on the detecting. Further, user wear history information may be generated, the user wear history indicating that, at the particular time, the user is wearing the article of clothing. The user wear history information may include one or more data points associated with one or more specified times, each of the data points indicating whether the article of clothing is being worn by the user or is not being worn by the user at the corresponding specified time.

  • Publication number: 20140358607
Abstract: Techniques for discovering and recruiting team members for a team are described. According to various embodiments, a user request to identify one or more potential team members of a team is received, the user request including a user specification of a specific job title Skill mapping information identifying various sample skills associated with various sample job titles is accessed, and one or more specific skills associated with the specific job title is determined based on the skill mapping information. Thereafter, candidate team members of the team are identified from among members of a social network service having one or more of the specific skills.

  • Publication number: 20140325398
Abstract: Techniques for generating and providing personalized interactive tours of various features of a webpage are described. According to various embodiments, it may be determined that a device associated with a user is accessing a webpage including various webpage features. Personalized experience scores corresponding to the webpage features may be calculated. Each of the personalized experience scores may indicate a current experience level of the user with the corresponding webpage feature. Thereafter, a specific webpage feature may be identified, where the personalized experience scores indicate that the user has a relatively low current experience level with that specific webpage feature. A user-selectable tour entry user interface element may be displayed on the webpage, wherein the tour entry user interface element includes a link to an interactive tour describing the specific webpage feature.

  • Publication number: 20050044164
Abstract: Data is shared between multiple enterprise data sources and mobile clients in a distributed system such that requests from a mobile client for enterprise data are received, the appropriate enterprise data sources that contain the requested data are determined, and the enterprise data is retrieved from the determined enterprise data sources. When the enterprise data is retrieved, it is converted into a relational format that can relate the retrieved data, even if the data comes from multiple enterprise data sources. The converted enterprise data is stored in a relational data store in the mobile client. In this way, mobile applications can be fully integrated with data from multiple enterprise data sources and data updates and configuration changes can be distributed to and from the mobile clients in real-time, without using interim data storage, and thereby avoiding complicated synchronization and data conflict issues between the enterprise data sources and the mobile clients.

  • Publication number: 20050044165
Abstract: Data is shared between multiple enterprise data sources and mobile clients in a distributed system such that requests from a mobile client for enterprise data are received, the appropriate enterprise data sources that contain the requested data are determined, and the enterprise data is retrieved from the determined enterprise data sources. Data maintained at a mobile client is shared with multiple enterprise data sources. The mobile clients send requests to an application server for synchronization of data records maintained at the mobile client with corresponding data records at the enterprise data sources. The client request includes metadata that identifies enterprise data sources for the requested data records and that specifies a relational correspondence between the requested data. The mobile client data records and the corresponding data records of the enterprise data sources are compared to identify any data conflicts between the two sets of data records. Any identified data conflicts are resolved.
