Abstract: A separator for a lithium battery having (a) a porous polymeric layer, such as a polyethylene layer; and (b) a nanoporous inorganic particle/polymer layer on both sides of the polymeric layer, the nanoporous layer having an inorganic oxide and one or more polymers; the volume fraction of the polymers in the nanoporous layer is about 15% to about 50%, and the crystallite size of the inorganic oxide is 5 nm to 90 nm.

Abstract: A Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system that is configured to receive a refrigerant from a condenser at a fixed expansion device and a variable expansion device. The system is further configured to output a first portion of the refrigerant to a first downstream HVAC component at a fixed flow rate using the fixed expansion device. The system is further configured to apply a first force to a pin of the variable expansion device based on a sensed temperature. The system is further configured to apply a second force to a valve of the variable expansion device via the force applied to the pin and to output a second portion of the refrigerant to a second downstream HVAC component at a variable flow rate based on the second force using the valve of the variable expansion device.

Abstract: Ball retrievers are an essential tool used to assist in the recovery of a ball from difficult or hazard areas such as ponds, mud, tall grasses or other hard to reach areas. In one embodiment a tapered fixed length handle having a hand grip on the first end and a ball retriever scoop attached to the opposing second end. The ball retriever scoop is formed from a single length of hard wire and incorporates a rim with an open front section having downward bends and mirroring curvilinear support elements substantially under the rim for supporting and holding the ball within a defined area which includes a portion of the rims inside diameter. The curvilinear supports transition into angled wire ends for attachment to a handle directly or indirectly with a coupler.

Abstract: A method for controlling, on a metallic coated coil being wound, the coating thickness homogeneity, the method including the following steps of A) measuring a first distance between a first reference point and a first point on the coil surface; B) measuring a second distance between a second reference point and a second point on the coil surface the first and second points on the coil being situated at different spots along the coil width; C) computing a difference between the first distance and the second distance, the difference is noted ?12true; D) saving the difference ?12true defining a threshold value, comparing each saved difference ?12true to said threshold value and/or comparing a sum of differences ?12true to the threshold value, emitting an alert when the difference ?12true and/or the sum of differences ?12true is higher than the threshold value.

The assembly comprising: an enclosure having a passage therethrough, the passage being arranged in use to allow an assay sample set to pass through the enclosure, the enclosure defining a barrier adapted in use to restrict fluid communication across the enclosure to communication through the passage; and a decontaminator located within the passage, the decontaminator is arranged in use to sterilise contamination in the passage.

Through a stored-value card issued to a criminal offender in a program of correctional supervision, the offender's transactions are compared to a rule set for the program, and it is determined whether an alert condition has occurred as a result of the transaction. Abstract: A system and method are provided for detecting extraneous material, often referred to as scarf, in the interior of a tubular steel product. The system is arranged to illuminate one end of the tube as it passes through the field of view of an imaging system, preferably a Smart Camera. The camera obtains images and processes the images to determine if scarf is present in the interior of the tube. Preferably a processor determines the percentage of dark pixels in the interior of the tube as detected in the image and if a predetermined threshold is met or exceeded, the tube fails. A blob sensor is also preferably used to avoid false positives where the dark pixels do not have a certain amount of connectivity.
