  • Publication number: 20140070096
Abstract: A method to determine a distribution profile of an element in a film. The method comprises exciting an electron energy of an element deposited in a first film, obtaining a first spectrum associating with the electron energy, and removing a background spectrum from the first spectrum. Removing the background value generates a processed spectrum. The method further includes matching the processed spectrum to a simulated spectrum with a known simulated distribution profile for the element in a film comparable to the first film. A distribution profile is obtained for the element in the first film based on the matching of the processed spectrum to a simulated spectrum selected from the set of simulated spectra.

  • Patent number: 8538990
Abstract: Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, implementing and using techniques for resolving cell-level access in a multi-dimensional data structure based on one or more sets of dimensional access rules. A business hierarchy is provided with nodes arranged in a tree structure. An online analytical processing database has several data cubes, where at least some have the business hierarchy as one of their dimensions. One or more rule-based access tables are provided for controlling access to cells of each data cube. Groups of nodes with identical access settings are identified in the business hierarchy. A single access block is generated per node group. Each access block is a serializable access specification object that contains information for generating a complete cell-level mask of access settings for a single node of the business hierarchy. The mask is generated based on the information in the access blocks for each node in the hierarchy.

  • Patent number: 8443157
Abstract: The operation of a data storage system is controlled by determining dimensions of a situational state space characterizing operating conditions of the data storage system, associating policy sets with respective states of the state space, monitoring system operation in the state space, selecting a particular one of the policy sets based on an identified current state in the state space, and controlling the operation of the system in accordance with the selected policy set. These operations are performed by a processing device incorporated in or otherwise associated with the system, with the processing device implementing a situational analysis framework comprising a learning module coupled to a production module. The situational analysis framework may be part of a policy engine. The dimensions of the situational state space in an illustrative embodiment may comprise two or more dimensions selected from one or more dimension categories such as load, performance, time and event state.

  • Publication number: 20120286081
Abstract: A spice grinder comprising a bottle (60) and a grinder unit (10) which is screwed onto the bottle. The grinder unit comprises a fixed component (12) and a rotatable component (14). The components have teeth (28, 44) which face one another across a grinding gap (52). The component (12) has one or more ramps (54) on the inside thereof and the bottle (60) has one or more external ramps (66). Each ramp (54) comprises a camming surface (56) and a locking surface (58) which intersect. The ramp (66) also comprises a camming surface (68) and a locking surface (70). When the grinder unit (10) is screwed onto the bottle the ramps (54, 66) ride over one another until the surfaces (56, 70) clear one another and the surfaces (58, 70) snap into face-to-face contact to prevent the grinder unit being rotated in the direction which unscrews it from the bottle.
