    Abstract: A method is disclosed for treating the effluent from a hydrocarbon pyrolysis process unit to recover heat and remove tar therefrom. The method comprises passing the gaseous effluent to at least one primary heat exchanger, thereby cooling the gaseous effluent and generating high pressure steam. Thereafter, the gaseous effluent is passed through at least one secondary heat exchanger having a heat exchange surface maintained at a temperature such that part of the gaseous effluent condenses to form in situ a liquid coating on said surface, thereby further cooling the remainder of the gaseous effluent to a temperature at which tar, formed by the pyrolysis process, condenses. The condensed tar is then removed from the gaseous effluent in at least one knock-out drum.

    Abstract: A method of producing a stretch material includes the steps of extruding a thermoplastic film (20); passing the extruded film through a nip of two rolls (30, 35) having first and second roll surfaces, where the first roll surface includes a raised closed shape pattern and the second roll surface is a flat anvil surface; forming a pattern in the film with the rolls, while chilling the film, such that there are thicker and thinner areas in the film, corresponding to the pattern on the first roll surface; and passing the patterned film under tension, by a heated air stream (45), whereby the polymer in the thinner patterned areas is removed, thereby creating a netting material. A bidirectional stretch laminate is produced by bonding a necked nonwoven material (75) to the netting material while the netting material is being stretched (under tension).

    Abstract: Systems and methods to deliver crew, cargo and other logistics services to space platforms. In one embodiment, a rendezvous and docking vehicle (RDV) comprises two docking mechanisms coupled to the RDV body. A pressurizable passageway connects the docking mechanisms. In one embodiment, the two docking mechanisms are different. An alternative embodiment comprises docking mechanisms which are the same. Also included is a flight control system. The flight control system may vary between embodiments, being autonomous, automated, or remotely controlled (e.g., remote pilot). One embodiment can also include a docking control system in the RDV. A propulsion system is coupled to the RDV in some embodiments, and the RDV may be augmented by a mated spacecraft's propulsion system in other embodiments. The mated spacecraft's propulsion system may even be under the control of the RDV.

    Abstract: Slots or apertures are formed in the connector shroud of a T/R module in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the connector so as to allow plating solution to flow freely through the entire inner portion of the connector, particularly the rear portion, during fabrication of the T/R module. The slots are formed prior to the shroud being brazed on to the module substrate. By allowing plating solution to flow through the connector, the interior of the connector can be more thoroughly plated, thereby improving the yield of the assembly while reducing cost.

The infusion beverage package of the present invention is prepared from a porous web derived from a biodegradable thermoplastic polymer, wherein the package has a transparency of at least about 30%, a tensile strength of at least about 2N/15 mm, and an infusion time of less than about 20 seconds. Fabric made with such strands is also disclosed and has improved combinations of strength, abrasion resistance, and softness properties. Composite materials including the foregoing fabric bonded to both sides of an inner meltblown layer are also disclosed. In addition, garments made with the fabric are disclosed.

    Abstract: An improved electrophotographic printer is provided in which the voltage applied to the charge roller is automatically adjusted to compensate for its changing characteristics over its life span. A high voltage DC power supply includes an output that is connected to the charge roller, and the input side of this high voltage DC power supply is controlled by a microprocessor of the print engine. The print engine controls the output voltage of the high voltage DC power supply by changing the duty cycle of the pulse-width modulated control signal that is supplied to the input of the high voltage DC power supply. A look-up table contains the correct duty cycle for the pulse-width modulated control signal with respect to the number of prints that have been made. The result of the inspection of the look-up table is used by the microprocessor of the print engine to control the correct duty cycle for the pulse-width modulated signal.

The upstream hydrogenation units of the invention are located at either side draws or in the reboiler circuit of deethanizers, in front-end demethanizer and front-end deethanizer sequences, or depropanizers, in front-end depropanizer sequences and obviate the need for most of the conventionally used hydrogenation units downstream.
