Abstract: A battery system includes a housing defining a volume, and a battery module arranged within the housing, where the battery module includes a plurality of battery cells configured to provide an electrical output. The battery system also includes a cooling system having a cooling channel, the cooling channel configured to pass within the battery module and is arranged adjacent the plurality of battery cells, where the cooling channel is configured to facilitate temperature control of the battery module. The battery system also includes a suppression system having a suppressant, where the suppression system is configured to provide the suppressant to the battery module to mitigate a thermal runaway event.

Abstract: A battery system includes a housing assembly including an inner wall and an outer wall and a battery section. The housing assembly defines an inner volume, a distribution volume extending between the inner wall and the outer wall, the inner wall extending between the inner volume and the distribution volume, a first aperture and a second aperture each extending through the inner wall from the inner volume to the distribution volume, and an inlet fluidly coupled to the distribution volume and configured to be fluidly coupled to a supply of fire suppressant. The battery section is positioned within the inner volume.

Abstract: A container system includes a container, and a canister. The container defines an inner volume. Multiple modules are positioned within the inner volume. The modules include multiple battery cells. The canister is configured to store liquid CO2. The canister is removably fluidly coupled with the inner volume of the container. The canister is configured to discharge the liquid CO2 into the inner volume to suppress and freeze the battery cells prior to physical opening of the container.

Abstract: A composition for radiation shielding or range of compositions is disclosed, with which the compositions may be used for a variety of radiation shielding applications. With proper adhesive selection and processing, the construction forms an integral bond with the craft as compatible adhesives form strong bonds. This eliminates the potential for delaminating associated with the use of metallic layered shielding. While prior art protects electronics with a direct coating to electronic packages, this approach allows larger equipment systems, such as optics, or spectrometers to be shielded.
