  • Publication number: 20240138741
Abstract: Various embodiments of a system are disclosed. The system includes a sensing apparatus configured to monitor cardiac electrical activity of a patient and a computing apparatus operatively coupled to the sensing apparatus and configured to monitor cardiac electrical activity using the sensing apparatus to generate a cardiac signal over time, detect a pacing artifact in the cardiac signal, and determine to account for the pacing artifact when using the cardiac signal based on at least one pacing artifact characteristic of the pacing artifact in the cardiac signal. The computing apparatus is further configured to account for the pacing artifact when using the cardiac signal if it is determined to account for the pacing artifact.

  • Patent number: 5353552
Abstract: An improved drill bit having a shank of larger diameter than the body of the drill has an intermediate section rearward of the point section of the drill of smaller diameter than the point, and a longitudinally elongated, enlarged diameter root section joining the rear end of the intermediate section to the shank. The reduced diameter of the intermediate section provides a clearance space, preventing rubbing of the wall of a hole drilled by the bit, while the enlarged diameter root section increases the resistance of the bit to breaking. An improved method of making the enlarged-root drill bit includes inclining a relieving wheel at a substantially smaller angle to the longitudinal axis of a blank than the angle at which the blank was fluted. In one embodiment having a front tapered tip made by the novel method, rearwardly directed teeth are formed at the rear plane of the drill point, by fluting and relieving steps alone, without requiring an additional machining step.

  • Patent number: 5102271
Abstract: An improved drill bit having a generally cylindrically shaped shank has a reduced diameter rear shank portion forming a central coaxial stem with a rear transverse face comprisingn the butt end of the drill bit. An annular wear reduction ring made of softer material than the shank material and having an outer diameter approximately equal to the diameter of the shank forward of the reduced diameter portion of the shank fits over the stem. The softness of the wear reduction ring protects collets, into which the bit is inserted to and removed, from abrasive wear, thereby extending useful life of the collet.

  • Patent number: 5071005
Abstract: A shipping container for holding a variable number of drill bits immobile, thereby preventing potentially damaging contact of the drill bit points with interior walls of the container has a concave base section hingedly connected to a symmetrically-shaped lid section which is pivotable downwards into contact with the base to form a closed, rectangular box-like enclosure. Rows of cylindrical pins protrude upwards from the upper surface of the bottom wall of the base and are adapted to be insertably received in bores provided into the lower surface of an elongated, slab-shaped drill bit carrier, each row of pins thus holding a separate carrier in a horizontally fixed position relative to the base.

  • Patent number: 4598822
Abstract: A carrying case for drill bits has concave rectangular top and bottom panels pivotably mounted at their rear long edges to a narrow, rectangular hinge strip and fastenable at the front edges of the panel to form a closed box. A drill bit holding block extending inward from the inner surface of the hinge strip contains a plurality of parallel bores disposed perpendicularly downward from the flat upper surface of the block. A longitudinally disposed slot cut through the rear surface of the block communicates with each bore. An elastic band looped around the block and lying in the slot is deformable by a longitudinally disposed, grooved compression strip extending inward from the top panel of the case to apply compressive holding forces on the shanks of drills contained within the bores in the holding block, thereby securing the drills in position with the box closed.

  • Patent number: 4135847
Abstract: This invention provides a drill, drilling apparatus, and methods for their use, in which a plastic shank of uniform external diameter is molded onto one end of an insert made of hard drill material. The end of the insert which is encompassed by plastic has dimensions and configurations designed to prevent axial and rotational slippage of the insert inside the plastic shank when the drill is in use. The unattached end of the insert is provided with a cutting tip and drilling flutes. High speed automatic drilling and drill-changing operations are described in which a number of drills having different flute diameters, but uniform shank diameters, are used consecutively.
