Patent number: 11494814Abstract: A technique for predictive modeling to generate ratings forecasts in a media network is described. An episode-level programming schedule is imported into a viewership forecasting application to generate episode-level ratings predictions. Episode-level ratings predictions for media content in the episode-level programming schedule are generated by implementing multiple different predictive algorithms in parallel for each instance of specific media content in the programming schedule. In addition, for each such predicted viewership value, an accuracy value is generated that indicates the likely accuracy of that predicted viewership value. The episode-level ratings predictions can be uploaded by a business unit of the media network, and merged with a programming schedule currently employed by the business unit.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 2017Date of Patent: November 8, 2022Assignee: Disney Enterprises, Inc.Inventors: Dustin A. Schnoor, David T. Parker, Thomas W. Denslow, John B. Ruddy

Patent number: 11343587Abstract: In one embodiment, a viewing behavior subsystem computes estimated viewership among target audiences at a person-level based on a household viewing logs and person-level data. A viewing behavior subsystem distributes the household viewing logs across buckets based on the sizes of the households and sets of person-level characteristics that are associated with the persons within the households. The viewing behavior subsystem generates a model for viewing behaviors associated with different sets of person-level characteristics based on the buckets. Subsequently, the viewing behavior subsystem estimates viewership among a target audience that is associated with one or more of the sets of person-level characteristics based on the model and census data.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 2017Date of Patent: May 24, 2022Assignee: Disney Enterprises, Inc.Inventors: Thomas Denslow, Haining Yu, David T. Parker, Jingyang Xu, Ludwig Kuznia
