  • Patent number: 8122798
Abstract: A power cutting tool includes a cutting surface, a conductive structure, and first electrode matrix comprising an array of electrical conductors. A moveable blade used to cut an object is located on the cutting surface. When at least one electrical conductor of the first electrode matrix is energized relative to the conductive structure, an electric field extends between the at least one electrical conductor and the conductive matrix to detect the presence of an object in proximity to the electric field.

  • Publication number: 20090158606
Abstract: A multi-line chalk reel is disclosed that may be comprised of three or more line reels disposed in a polar arrangement of parallel but distinct rotation axes that has a single method for engaging and disengaging a single drive arrangement to any one spool. This arrangement provides a variety of advantages, including a package solution of useful dimensions and a low part count to minimize parts in assembly. The single drive arrangement reduces cost, and provides for convenient access to individual spools.

  • Patent number: 7444759
Abstract: A rollable beam measurement apparatus is disclosed. In one embodiment, the apparatus includes a housing including a reel. A rule having a leading edge and a trailing edge is provided and the trailing edge is attached to the reel. An end hook is attached to the leading edge. In preferred embodiments, the rule comprises a pair of opposing rules forming a tubular structure. This new tape rule eliminates the typically unstable and flexible behavior of typical tape rules, providing the ability for stiffness and standout length in all orientations and in all environmental conditions. Furthermore, this invention improves the readability of the tape rule markings as well as maintains the accepted standard for tape rule stowage while providing these benefits.

  • Publication number: 20070146981
Abstract: A novel integrated computer includes a support base, a computer component pivotally coupled to the support base, and a display component slidably coupled to the computer component. The pivotal connection between the support base and the computer component facilitates adjustment of the tilt of the display. The slidable connection between the computer component and the display component facilitates height adjustment of the display, without affecting the tilt of the display. A biasing member prevents unwanted movement of the display, while allowing adjustment of the display. A method for manufacturing the integrated computer is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6029663
Abstract: A powder storage and delivery system for a drug powder inhaler has a carrier disk with a blister shell sealed by a shear layer. A tab is adhered to the shear layer, underneath the blister shell. The carrier disk is placed into a dry powder inhaler. An actuator pushes against the tab, causing the shear layer to tear away, releasing the powder drug contents from the blister into the dry powder inhaler. A disk carrier has bursting blisters with a brittle blister shell sealed with a foil lid, and covered by a plate. An actuator moves against the plate, causing the plate to buckle and the blister shell to burst open, releasing powdered drug into the dry powder inhaler.
