  • Patent number: 10577672
Abstract: A method for cost effectively case hardening a component formed from a martensitic stainless steel material with a desired metallurgical condition for high temperature, high rolling contact fatigue, corrosion and spall initiation and propagation resistance bearing performance. The method describes a method to significantly reduce the carburization or carbo-nitriding process times for appreciable reduction in manufacturing cost. The Method includes the steps of: forming the component from a martensitic stainless steel material having an ASTM grain size of 9 or finer; and subjecting the component to one of a carburization and a carbo-nitriding treatment with significantly lower case hardening times for manufacturing cost-effectiveness.

  • Patent number: 10579405
Abstract: A processor on a host machine can concurrently operate a standard virtual machine manager (VMM) and a security VMM (SVMM), where the SVMM has a higher privilege level and manages access to a hardware TPM or other trusted source on the host machine. Such a configuration prevents a compromised VMM from gaining access to secrets stored in the hardware TPM. The SVMM can create a virtual TPM (vTPM) for each guest VM, and can seal information in each vTPM to the hardware TPM. A guest VM or the standard VMM can access information in the corresponding vTPM only through the corresponding SVMM. Such an approach enables the host to securely implement critical security functionality that can be exposed to customers, and provides protection against leakage of customer secrets in case of a security compromise.

  • Patent number: 10578488
Abstract: Disclosed herein are spectral imaging systems having an internally folded prism, which can have four different refracting surfaces. A first angle defines the spatial relationship between the first and second refracting surfaces. The first angle can have a range between 45-95 degrees. In some embodiments, the first angle can be 70 degrees. The spatial relationship of the third and fourth refracting surfaces can be defined by a second angle, which can be the same as the first angle. Finally, the spatial relationship of the second and third refracting surfaces can be defined by a third angle, which can have a range between 90-145 degrees. The prism index of refraction, the first, second, and third angles are selected such that TIR is achieved at two of the refracting surfaces. Additionally, these prism parameters are selected such that a 180 degrees fold of the optical path is achieved entirely within the prism.

  • Patent number: 10577979
Abstract: An oil tank mounting system for use on a structure of a turbine engine, includes three mounts with each mount configured to constrain the oil tank with a different number of degrees of freedom of movement. A first mount may have fix the oil tank in one degree of freedom, a second mount may fix the oil tank in two degrees of freedom, and a third mount may fix the oil tank in three degrees of freedom. This allows limited rotational and expansion movement while coupling the oil tank to the engine. The mount attachments may be embodied in rubber, with pins, or with spherical joints in a variety of configurations. Frangible pins may be used to absorb energy but still retain the oil tank in the event of a high energy event.

  • Patent number: 10579379
Abstract: Receiving an instruction indicating a source operand and a destination operand. Storing a result in the destination operand in response to the instruction. The result operand may have: (1) first range of bits having a first end explicitly specified by the instruction in which each bit is identical in value to a bit of the source operand in a corresponding position; and (2) second range of bits that all have a same value regardless of values of bits of the source operand in corresponding positions. Execution of instruction may complete without moving the first range of the result relative to the bits of identical value in the corresponding positions of the source operand, regardless of the location of the first range of bits in the result. Execution units to execute such instructions, computer systems having processors to execute such instructions, and machine-readable medium storing such an instruction are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10581606
Abstract: A system has a first electronic device with optical sensor, digital radio transceiver, and processor with firmware; this device is typically portable or wearable. The system also has a computerized device with a display, a second digital radio transceiver, and a second processor with firmware. The first and computerized devices are configured to set up a digital radio link when in radio range. The second processor uses a spot on the display to optically transmit a digital message including a secret such as an encryption key or subkey and/or an authentication code adapted for authenticating an encrypting the radio link. The first device receives the digital message via its optical sensor, and uses the digital message to validate and establish encryption on the radio link. In embodiments, the system determines a location of the first device on the display and positions the transmission spot at the determined location.

  • Patent number: 10575880
Abstract: A resilient core is positioned between bony projections which are offset from a principal load bearing region of a spinal joint. Shaped projections extend from the core, and engage the bony projections by conforming to anatomical landmarks, and may be fastened to the bony projections. During flexion of the joint, the core absorbs some of the force of compression, and limits an extent to which the joint may compress. If the shaped projections are connected to the bony projections, extension of the joint is inhibited by the projections and the core, limiting the extent to which the joint may be distracted. In this manner, healing is fostered, and a weakened or damaged joint is protected from excessive movement.
