  • Publication number: 20170159618
Abstract: A hydrogen and oxygen (HHO) gas on-demand electrolysis fuel cell system for use with internal combustion engines is disclosed. This hydrogen on-demand (HOD) system integrates with the engine control module (ECM) or other control system that regulates the operation of an internal combustion engine in order to supply HHO to the engine and improve the engine's overall fuel efficiency. This system includes an electrolyte fluid reservoir outfitted with level, pressure and temperature sensors; a pump and heat exchanger; a uniquely-configured electrolyzer; and a filter. The combined engine and HOD system is controlled and regulated by an electronic control system (ECS) and a combustion control module (CCM). The CCM is installed on the engine such that it actively intercepts the electronic signals from the engine manufacturer's ECM to continuously coordinate the functions and operations of the HOD system and the engine.

  • Patent number: 9660153
Abstract: A horizontal LED die is flip-chip mounted on a mounting substrate to define a gap that extends between the closely spaced apart anode and cathode contacts of the LED die, and between the closely spaced apart anode and cathode pads of the substrate. An encapsulant is provided on the light emitting diode die and the mounting substrate. The gap is configured to prevent sufficient encapsulant from entering the gap that would degrade operation of the LED.

  • Patent number: 9637822
Abstract: A susceptor apparatus for use in a CVD reactor includes a main platter with a central gear. The main platter has opposite first and second sides, a central recess formed in the second side, and a plurality of circumferentially spaced-apart pockets formed in the first side. The central gear is positioned within the central recess and the satellite platters are individually rotatable within the respective pockets. Each pocket has a peripheral wall with an opening in communication with the central recess. The central gear teeth extend into each of the pockets via the respective wall openings and engage a planet gear associated with each satellite platter. Rotation of the main platter about its rotational axis causes the satellite platters to rotate about their individual rotational axes.

  • Publication number: 20160333167
Abstract: Polymer matrix composites normally consist of spherical or ellipsoidal reinforcement phases distributed randomly throughout the material. The spherical shape of the reinforcing materials reduces the effective electromagnetic properties of the reinforcement. Provided is a composite material which advantageously uses anisotropic electromagnetic properties of high aspect ratio loading using alignment to optimize the extrinsic effective electromagnetic property of the composite. Methods of manufacturing the composite are also described.

  • Patent number: 9470437
Abstract: Magnetothermal pump devices are provided. Such devices can operate on the principle of thermally induced switching between open and closed states of a magnetic switch to generate mechanical oscillations. Exemplary devices provided include a thermal gradient and a magnet with a Curie temperature at or within this gradient. When the soft magnet is below the Curie temperature, it has sufficient magnetic force to bind a hard magnet at the hot side of the gradient. Heating of the magnet at the hot side causes it to exceed its Curie temperature, resulting in loss of magnetic attraction. At this stage, a restorative force exceeds the magnetic force, causing the magnet to shift to the cold side of the gradient, which oscillations can be used to pump fluid. Any magnetic transition that results in a change in the vector nature of the magnetic moment of the soft magnetic material can be employed.
