An inner catheter may be disposed within the outer sheath. The inner catheter may have a distal end. A tube extension may be coupled to the distal end of the inner catheter and may extend distally therefrom. The tube extension may be configured to shift between a first elongated configuration and a second shortened configuration.

Abstract: The present invention provides, inter alia, methods for detecting whether a subject has an infection. These methods include (a) incubating a test sample from a subject suspected of having an infection with a labeled molecule, such as a labeled nucleoside analog, that is preferentially incorporated into a pathogenic microorganism for a period of time sufficient for the pathogenic microorganism to incorporate the labeled molecule; (b) removing any unincorporated labeled molecule from the test sample; and (c) detecting the labeled molecule within the pathogenic microorganism, if any, in the test sample, wherein the presence of labeled molecule within the pathogenic microorganism indicates that the subject has an infection.

Abstract: A metadata management system receives metadata changes and automatically updates a metadata architecture which maps the data. The metadata changes may be received through a simple user interface by a user or administrator. Once received, the system may automatically update schemas and data transformation code to process data according to the new data mapping preference. The system may handle metadata updates in a multi-tenant system having one or more applications per tenant, and may update data for a single tenant and 1 or more tenant applications in a multitenancy.

Abstract: Certain example embodiments relate to techniques for more precisely adjusting the spacing between a head and a disk in a disk drive device. A spindle motor of a disk drive device may be electrically isolated from at least the base plate by means of, for example, a nonconductive adhesive. Circuitry for monitoring and/or applying a voltage to the head and/or to the disk to control an amount of spacing between the head and the disk may be provided. In certain example embodiments, such circuitry may monitor the disk voltage and then apply an appropriate voltage bias to the head to control the spacing therebetween electrostatically. In certain other example embodiments, such circuitry may monitor the head voltage and then adjust the spindle voltage accordingly. In still other example embodiments, the disk voltage and the head voltage may be controlled and/or adjusted based on a known voltage differential so that a precise disk/head voltage potential is achieved.

Abstract: A latch apparatus is configured to latch an actuator arm assembly that can position a read/write head relative to a data storage disk in a disk drive. The latch apparatus includes a latch arm, a coil, a permanent magnet, and a latch control circuit. The latch arm is configured to be moved between a closed position that inhibits movement of the actuator arm assembly in a landing zone and an open position that does not inhibit movement of the actuator arm assembly in the landing zone. The coil is configured to generate an electromagnetic force on the latch arm responsive to a coil current. The permanent magnet is configured to generate a magnetic force on the latch arm that is substantially opposed to the electromagnetic force from the coil. The latch control circuit is configured to increase according to defined open current profiles over a defined opening time period the coil current to at least an upper defined level to cause the coil to move the latch arm from the closed position to the open position.

Abstract: A servo writer system for a disk drive uses the reader element of a magnetic transducer head in the disk drive to read head position information during servo writing of the disk drive. A positioning system in the servo writer uses both the head position information and actuator position information, as feedback signals to accurately position the transducer during servo writing, resulting in high quality servo tracks.
