  • Patent number: 10051037
Abstract: A method for providing access to dynamically provisioned resources and on-demand courses includes receiving, by an instantiation engine executing on a first computing device, from a second computing device associated with a user, an indication that the user has purchased access to the course at a scheduled time. A type of computing resource is identified for use during the course at the scheduled time. A service provider computing device is selected from a plurality of service provider computing devices, based upon an ability to provide access to the identified type of computing resource at the scheduled time. Before the scheduled time, the instantiation engine instructs the selected service provider computing device to provision a computing resource of the identified type. The method includes transmitting, to the second computing device, an instruction to establish a connection to the provisioned computing resource at the scheduled time.

  • Patent number: 9674270
Abstract: A method for creating a course for dynamic provisioning includes receiving, by a creation engine, from a second computing device associated with a user, a request to create a course. The creation engine receives, from the second computing device, an identification of a type of computing resource for use during the course. A service provider computing device is selected from a plurality of service provider computing devices based upon an ability to provide access to the identified type of computing resource. The service provider computing device is instructed to provision a computing resource of the identified type. The second computing device is directed to connect to the provisioned computing resource. The method includes receiving, from the second computing device, an indication that the user configured the provisioned computing resource for use during the course. A state management engine is directed to save a state of the provisioned computing resource.

  • Patent number: 8849015
Abstract: Described herein is a three-dimensional scanning system that features a camera integrated with a user-guided haptic interface device. The system allows an operator, through the sense of touch, to intuitively and interactively identify optimum locations for obtaining images or scans of an object. The system then assembles these scans to produce a virtual three-dimensional representation of the object with a high degree of accuracy and with a minimum of data artifacts.

Date of Patent: September 30, 2014
    Assignee: 3D Systems, Inc.

  • Patent number: 8509933
Abstract: The invention provides systems and methods for manufacture of a non-homogeneous article using a 3D voxel-based model of the article and a rapid prototyping device. Use of a voxel-based model provides processing advantages and offers improved realism of the manufactured object with regard to non-homogeneous (i) color, (ii) translucency, and/or (iii) hardness, for example.

  • Patent number: 8359114
Abstract: The invention provides a digital dentistry system that utilizes a haptic interface and features a computer-based design application configured to allow the intuitive construction of irregular, amorphous three-dimensional structures typically seen in dental restorations, utilizing, where appropriate, the design skills of a user. In certain embodiments, the system provides a comprehensive digital solution for dental labs in the business of creating dental restorations such as partial frameworks, crowns, copings, bridge frameworks, implants and the like, with a sense of touch provided by a haptic interface device.

  • Publication number: 20100291505
Abstract: The invention provides a method and system for substantially coterminous modification of a patient situation and a manufactured prosthetic to achieve the desired fit. Rather than utilizing a serial approach, a parallel approach is taken where both patient situation and prosthetic device can be modified at the same time (or substantially the same time).
