Patent number: 10518525Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for connecting a printing plate to a print cylinder or surface. The techniques may be implemented, for instance, with respect to a printing plate, a print cylinder, a print sleeve, or some combination thereof. In an embodiment, a field of mechanical fasteners is provisioned on a printing plate, and a complementary field of mechanical fasteners is provisioned on a print sleeve or cylinder. The mechanical fasteners collectively operate to provide a mechanical bond or interface that inhibits lateral and rotational movement of the plate during printing operations, and can also be configured to manage backlash between engaging surfaces of the interface. In some cases, backlash management includes use of cushion effect integral with the mechanical bond itself and/or unidirectional and possibly angled fastener elements to provide a snugging effect.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 2015Date of Patent: December 31, 2019Assignee: VELCRO BVBAInventors: Luis Parellada Armela, Josep M. Soler Carbonell, Mark A. Clarner, Andrew P. Collins, Paul R. Erickson, Christopher M. Gallant, David Villeneuve

Patent number: 9763497Abstract: A fabric, such as a loop fastener material, is finished by applying a foam to a surface of the fabric, the foam containing both a liquid binder and a powder. The binder is allowed to flow into pores of the fabric and coat fiber interstices of the fabric as the foam collapses, and is dried to stabilize the fabric. The powder is of a particle size selected to cause most of the powder to remain on the surface of the fabric while the binder is dried to bond the powder to the fabric surface. The powder, as bonded to the fabric surface, is activatable, such as by heat or RF or UV energy, to adhere the stabilized fabric to another surface or to provide a desired surface property.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 2015Date of Patent: September 19, 2017Assignee: Velcro BVBAInventors: Paul R. Erickson, David Villeneuve

Patent number: 7997773Abstract: A wire retaining system includes a wire clip and fastening receiver for releasable attachment of a wire clip on a supporting surface to retain a wire. The receiver includes an adhesive backing and touch fastener elements. The wire clip includes two wire receptacles with respective receptacle openings facing different directions and touch fastener elements for engagement with the touch fastener elements of the receiver. A first receptacle is oriented with the receptacle opening facing a desired direction and the wire extends across the receptacle. The releasable wire clip can be reoriented with the second receptacle facing a desired direction and a second wire extending across the second receptacle. The wire clip can be packaged preassembled on a light strand with the touch fastener elements of the wire clip and receiver engaged. A method of forming fastener products includes forming a rigid extrusion having fastener elements formed from extruded rail segments.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2008Date of Patent: August 16, 2011Assignee: Velcro Industries B.V.Inventors: David P. Kraus, David Villeneuve

Publication number: 20070254330Abstract: The present invention provides isogenic cell lines and uses said isogenic cell lines in a method for determining a sequence to administer multiple types of chemotherapeutic drugs for killing cancerous cells to reduce the induction of drug cross-resistance in a patent. The methods also involves screening drug candidates to select a lead anticancer drug from amongst a plurality of candidate drugs, the lead having a reduced capacity to induce cross resistance in a patient against one or more known anticancer drugs, and all of the drugs having the ability to kill cancerous cells of the same selected tumour type. Moreover, the methods involve determining a sequence to administer multiple types of cytotoxic drugs for killing undesired cells to reduce the indication of drug cross-resistance in the cells.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 26, 2004Publication date: November 1, 2007Inventors: Amadeo Parissenti, Baoqing Guo, David Villeneuve, Stacey Hembruff
