  • Patent number: 6688590
Abstract: A mechanism (120) which can be used in a printer (110), for example, for selectively moving sheets from first and second sheet stacks, including a rotating shaft (123), a mechanism for causing the rotating shaft (123) to rotate in first and second directions, and first and second media picks (121, 122). Rotation of the rotating shaft (123) in the first direction causes the first media pick (121) to move a sheet from the first sheet stack (51) and rotation of the rotating shaft (123) in the second direction causes the second media pick (122) to move a sheet from the second sheet stack (52).

  • Patent number: 6669329
Abstract: A printer is provided that allows one or more print cartridges to be installed during printer manufacture with little risk of ink evaporation during shipping so as to eliminate assembly problems associated with installation of print cartridges during initial printer setup.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 8, 2002
Date of Patent: December 30, 2003

  • Patent number: 6371611
Abstract: A printer having a media path through which a media sheet having a first surface and a second surface is transported. The printer includes a printhead, and a media frame having a base and an extension portion angularly extending upwardly away from the base. The base has a first edge spaced apart from a second edge. The first and second edges are located for contacting the media sheet on the first surface. The extension portion has a support surface for providing support for the media sheet at the first surface. The printer further includes a roller assembly having a roller positioned opposed to the extension portion, the roller engaging the second surface of the media sheet to define a line of contact with the media sheet. The line of contact defined by the roller and the first edge of the base determine a first curvature of the media sheet having a first radius, and the first edge and the second edge determine a second curvature of the media sheet having a second radius.

  • Patent number: 6350010
Abstract: A printer is provided comprising a housing having a stationary portion and a movable portion movable between a first position and a second position. A carrier is movably mounted within the housing. At least one print cartridge is removably mounted within the carrier. A holding mechanism is provided comprising a locking element pivotably coupled to the stationary housing portion. The locking element is adapted to engage the carrier when engaged by an element on the movable housing portion when the movable housing portion is in its second position and the locking element is adapted to disengage the carrier when the movable housing portion is in its first position.
