  • Patent number: 8622091
Abstract: A protector which prevents damage to a solid lubricating coating on a threaded portion of a threaded joint when the protector is mounted on a pin or a box of a threaded joint for pipes in which at least one of the pin or the box is lubricated with a solid lubricating coating comprises a tubular member having a threaded portion on its inner or outer peripheral surface which threadingly engages with at least a portion and preferably 3-5 complete threads of the threaded portion provided on the pin or the box to be protected. The thread height H1 of the threaded portion of the protector and the thread height H2 of the complete thread of the pin or the box on which the protector is mounted satisfy H1>H2, and the difference between H1 and H2 [=H1?H2] is larger than the maximum coating thickness at the thread crest of the solid lubricating coating which covers the threaded portion of the pin or the box.

  • Publication number: 20130213516
Abstract: A protector for protecting a helical thread of a pipe comprises a body. The body has a central axis, an upper end comprising a base, a lower end opposite the upper end, and an annular connecting member extending axially from the base to the lower end. The connecting member comprising a radially inner surface and a radially outer surface. The connecting member comprises a helical thread extending radially inward from the radially inner surface or radially outward from the radially outer surface. The helical thread comprises a convex profile that is different than a thread profile of the thread of the pipe.

  • Patent number: 8424570
Abstract: A protector for protecting a pipe thread having a thread pitch P1 has a central axis, a first end, second end opposite the first end, and comprises a base at the first end. In addition, the protector comprises an annular connecting member extending axially from the base to the second end. The connecting member has a radially inner surface and a radially outer surface. The connecting member also includes a helical thread extending radially outward from the radially inner surface or radially inward from the radially outer surface. The helical thread has a thread pitch P2 that is greater than the thread pitch P1 of the pipe thread.

  • Patent number: 6676422
Abstract: The specification discloses a cap for sealing the terminal end of a power cord, such as a marine power cord, against dirt and moisture. The specification also discloses that the cap actively prevents corrosion of the electrical contacts covered by the cap by the inclusion of corrosion-inhibiting compounds dispersed within the plastic of the cap. The corrosion-inhibiting compound are released in gaseous form within the cap, thereby inhibiting corrosion of the electrical contacts.
