  • Publication number: 20200108408
Abstract: A digitally controlled, wearable or stationary chemical dispersal device using a pump and activity-based or environmental-based feedback monitoring is described. The system contains a liquid chemical reservoir which can be replaced or refilled for multi-use operation. Electronic controls are used to drive the pump's liquid or air flow rate periodically with user control features and/or monitored, embedded digital sensors. Feedback from the sensors monitoring either the activity of a wearer of the device or the local environment can be used to adjust the pump's flow rate automatically. In addition, user selectable operation mode via Bluetooth is also described.

  • Publication number: 20140290123
Abstract: Techniques for disease prevention using insect traps are provided. A refillable, attachable and wearable trap system with ability to attract, ensnare, immobilize, or kill a tick or other targeted walking arachnid or insect present on the surface of a host mammal may include a housing with a cavity, such that the housing contains a refillable immobilizing layer or substrate that includes a chemical-based arachnid or insect attractant. The housing may contain a receiver base layer to allow for temporary insertion or attachment of immobilizing layer or substrate. A porous outer layer may cover the housing, and a lower receiver base layer may be co-joined to forms cavity. The housing receiver base layer may include an insertion guide or track for temporarily holding the refillable immobilizing layer in place. The trap system may also include a refillable emitter module for housing a chemical-based arachnid or insect attractant.

  • Patent number: 5705928
Abstract: A sample delivery system for a flow-through NMR analysis is provided, which utilizes pressurized gas as a means for conveying a sample into and out of an NMR spectrometer. Two sources of gas pressure, a forward pressure and back pressure, oppose the sample within the tubing of the sample delivery system and the tubing of the flow-through system which are operatively coupled together. Conveyance of the sample in any direction within the tubing is achieved by adjusting the pressure differential. Precise positioning of the sample in the magnetic field center and complete removal of the sample from the NMR spectrometer when analysis is complete are achieved by using a signal processor which receives signals from the NMR detector or other detectors positioned along the length of the tubing. These signals provide an indication of the position of the sample in the tubing. The signal processor uses this information to adjust the forward and back pressure, thereby achieving the desired positioning of the sample.
