    Abstract: A wheelchair construction is disclosed for facilitating transfer of a person to and from the wheelchair. The wheelchair includes a mobile frame, a chair assembly for supporting a person in a sitting position, and mechanism shiftably supporting the chair assembly on the frame. The mechanism supports the chair assembly for movement between a transport position, in which the chair assembly is positioned generally over the frame, and a transfer position, in which the chair assembly is positioned laterally outwardly from the frame.
