Abstract: A system and method for detecting the proximity of wireless devices within a controlled-environment facility is disclosed. The wireless devices transmit period heartbeat messages to a central monitoring system. The wireless devices monitor communication channels for activity by other devices. The wireless devices report the activity by other devices in the status messages. The central monitoring system may assign a location to the other device based upon a location of the wireless device that sent the status message.

Abstract: A method for predictive analysis for maintaining a battery charge of a personal monitoring device is provided. The method includes: locking the personal monitoring device to a limb of a monitored person; collecting historical information about the personal monitoring device including movement data of the personal monitoring device and battery charging history of the personal monitoring device; analyzing the collected historical information for patterns of battery charging behavior; receiving a current location of the personal monitoring device; determining whether to send a battery charge reminder to the monitored person, based on at least a current location of the personal monitoring device, a current batter charge, and the patterns of battery charging behavior; and providing, in response to a positive outcome of the determining, a notification to the monitored person to charge the battery.

Abstract: A tracking system includes a central monitoring location, a tracking device, and a first tracking application. The first tracking application operates on a cellular device, the cellular device also having a second tracking application. The tracking device is lockably attachable to a limb of monitored person. The tracking device has first electronic hardware that provides health and status information about the tracking device to the first tracking application when in range, and second electronic hardware that is detectable by the second tracking application operating on the cellular device when in range, for which the second tracking application can determine relative location information about the tracking device relative to the cellular device and transmit the relative location information to an independent tracking database. The absolute and relative location information can be combined to provide a more accurate location of the monitored person.
