Patent number: 8621029Abstract: A system and method provides a remote direct memory access over a transport medium that does not natively support remote direct memory access operations. An emulated VI module of a storage operating system emulates RDMA operations over such a medium, e.g., conventional Ethernet, thereby enabling storage. Storage appliances in a cluster configuration utilize the non-RDMA compatible transport medium as a cluster interconnect.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 2004Date of Patent: December 31, 2013Assignee: NetApp, Inc.Inventors: James R. Patent number: 7207418Abstract: A method and apparatus for filling a transmission at the transmission assembly plant including the steps of pumping fluid through the transmission entering at a first port and exiting through a second port, rotating the torque converter to purge trapped air, shifting the transmission, filling the transmission to a desired level and plugging the first and second ports. Through use of the method and apparatus of the present invention, the transmission is placed in a “road ready” condition and will not require additional fluid to be added in a top off operation at the vehicle assembly plant.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 2003Date of Patent: April 24, 2007Assignee: Cinetic Automation CorporationInventors: Kenneth B. Publication number: 20030186199Abstract: Online method, system and software for interactively training a user to use a device. One or more computers are operably programmed and configured to display instruction for using a device, display an interactive graphical simulation of the device, receive user input configuring the device, and display a result of the user configuring the device. In another embodiment, the device automatically is synchronized to a particular segment of the instruction. Instructions for configuring or using the device in a particular manner may be provided to a user, together with an indication as to whether the resulting user configuration is correct (e.g., online exercises, quizzes, examinations, etc.) Online communication may be established between user-trainees and device manufacturers for user support, product feedback, etc. A wide variety of devices and device usages or configurations may be simulated, including but not limited to vehicle diagnostic, electrical, and medical devices and related applications.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 23, 2003Publication date: October 2, 2003Applicant: Melior-DelawareInventors: Bryon E. Patent number: 6030366Abstract: A guard for a medical cartridge, such as a pre-filled syringe, includes a body having an open proximal end communicating with a cavity for receiving the cartridge, and a shield slidably attached to the body. The body has a semi-rigid cantilever member on its distal end from which a stop tab, having a sloped distal edge and a blunt proximal edge, extends. The shield includes an elongate opening for receiving the stop tab, thereby allowing the shield to slide between unguarded and guarded positions for exposing and covering a needle, respectively. During assembly of the shield and body, the stop tab slidably engages an assembly tab on the shield, deflecting the cantilever member inward while the stop tab passes under the shield, the sloped distal edge of the stop tab minimizing damage to the stop tab or shield. In the guarded position, the blunt proximal edge of the stop tab engages a proximal wall of the elongate opening to prevent further distal movement beyond the guarded position.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 1998Date of Patent: February 29, 2000Assignee: Safety Syringes, Inc.Inventor: David W. Patent number: 5774924Abstract: A cornering tool is provided which may be used for application of drywall or plaster or similar construction coating materials. The tool is adjustable over a wide range of corner angles. In addition, the adjustability allows for use in plastering as well as drywall application where the angle is offset to effect screeding of excess coating material. The tool includes the novel feature in such tools of a thinned hinge section with increased flexibility which allows for angular adjustment of the blades without bending the blades out of plane. The tool is preferably formed of plastic.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 1997Date of Patent: July 7, 1998Inventors: Danny A. Beckham, David W. Mitchell

Patent number: 5197636Abstract: An apparatus for dispensing a liquid medium containing dissolved chlorine dioxide comprises a reservoir which defines a receptacle adapted for holding a precursor liquid medium having chlorine dioxide precursor dissolved therein and a tip assembly into which the precursor liquid medium passes after the precursor liquid exits the receptacle. The tip assembly comprises a chamber in which is located a promoter component effective to promote the generation of chlorine dioxide from the chlorine dioxide precursor in the liquid medium present in the chamber, an outlet providing a path for the liquid medium containing dissolved chlorine dioxide to exit the chamber, and an isolation assembly acting to effectively separate the precursor liquid medium in the reservoir from the promoter when it is desired that the precursor liquid medium from the reservoir be separated from the catalyst.Type: GrantFiled: February 3, 1992Date of Patent: March 30, 1993Assignee: Allergan, Inc.Inventors: David W. Patent number: 5080643Abstract: An improved method of making a stand-up plastic bag in which the side seam seals are formed at the same time as the gusset wall seals. The method includes the steps of supplying the film, folding the film to form the gusset, simultaneously forming the heat seals for the gusset walls and the side seams at one temperature, forming the heat seals to join the gusset walls together at a higher temperature, and separating the film into completed bags. The improved method provides greater efficiency and increased production rates.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 1990Date of Patent: January 14, 1992Assignee: Dow Brands Inc.Inventors: David W. Mitchell, Roger D. Vrooman

Patent number: 4997416Abstract: An improved method of making a stand-up plastic bag in which heated pins are used to seal the gusset walls. The pins are heated at a temperature lower than melting point of the thermoplastic which forms the exterior contiguous portions of the gusset walls. The method includes the steps of supplying the film, folding the film to form the gusset, forming the heat seals for the gusset walls and the heat seals for the side seams at one temperature, forming the heat seals joining the gusset walls together at the same temperature using a heated pin seal bar, and separating the film into completed bags. The improved method provides greater efficiency and increased production rates.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 1990Date of Patent: March 5, 1991Assignee: Dow Brands Inc.Inventors: David W. Patent number: 4172819Abstract: The rotor comprises an elongated hollow cylinder and hollow stub shafts affixed to and extending outwardly of each end portion of the cylinder, such cylinder interior being in fluid communication with the interiors of the shafts so that cooling fluid passes therebetween to reduce the heat build up of the cylinder and the transfer of heat to the rotor support beraings, and to conserve energy by substantially reducing the mass of the rotor. Fan blades may be located in and attached inwardly of the shaft or the cylinder to force cooling air therethrough.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 1978Date of Patent: October 30, 1979Assignee: Carpco, Inc.Inventors: David W.
