  • Gasket for sanitary pipe fittings

    Abstract: A sanitary pipe fitting and improved gasket for use in such fitting wherein the pipe fitting comprises first and second pipes, a gasket, and a nut for securing the ends of the pipes in an assembled relation with the gasket sandwiched therebetween. The pipes each terminate in an end face which has a conical surface and a radial shoulder, the shoulder of one pipe being located on the inside of the pipe and the shoulder of the other pipe being on the outside of the pipe. The gasket is annular and has end faces complementary in shape to the end faces of the pipes. According to the practice of this invention, the gasket is molded from a fiber-reinforced elastomeric material.
