  • Patent number: 7018612
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of preparing a solution of a radioactive rhenium complex, by reacting at elevated temperature a radioactive perrhenate in a substantially aqueous solution with a ligand in the presence of a reductant and optionally an antioxidant under substantially anaerobic conditions, wherein said reaction is carried out at a pH from approx. 1.5 to approx. 5 and by heating the reaction components for at least 10 min. at a temperature of at least 100° C. The invention further relates to a kit for performing said method.

  • Patent number: 6450936
Abstract: A manifold system allows for the movement of a radioactive fluid from a container to a treatment balloon or other device, and the withdrawal of the radioactive fluid from the treatment device. The system allows for the convenient movement of the fluid, with minimal radiation exposure for those using the system. The manifold system is particularly useful in the use of radiation to prevent restenosis of arteries.

  • Patent number: 6359119
Abstract: The invention relates to novel aminocarboxylate ligands that are suitable for complexing with a radionuclide, and are useful as therapeutic agents and as imaging agents for diagnostic purposes. In accordance with the present invention, a method of preparing a compound of formula fac-[M(CO)3(OH2)3]+  (I) wherein M is Mn, 99mTc, 186Re or 188Re, involves reacting a metal in permetallate form with carbon monoxide and stannous ion. The compound of formula (I) can be reacted with a ligand Lx to form a compound of the formula fac-[M(CO)3Lx]n  (II) wherein M is as defined above, Lx is a monodentate or multidentate ligand or a mixture of these ligands, and n is a charge of the ligand Lx increased with one + charge. The invention also is directed to novel compounds, and kits for carrying out the disclosed methods.

  • Patent number: 5192526
Abstract: The process of the present invention includes preparing a first aqueous solution of rhenium in the form of radioactive perrhenate, wherein the concentration of rhenium in said solution is within the range of about 5.times.10.sup.-6 M to about 2.times.10.sup.-3 M, and then reducing and complexing the radioactive perrhenate by mixing a second solution or lyophilized solid with the first solution. The second solution or lyophilized solid comprises a ligand which complexes with the radioactive perrhenate and a reductant wherein the reductant is present in the second solution at a concentration in the range of about 0.005M to about 0.020M and the ligand is present in the second solution at a concentration in the range of about 0.01M and about 0.15M. The pH of the resultant solution is within the range of about 1.5 to about 5.5.
