    Abstract: An ignition spark advance system is disclosed which includes pulse generating means responsive to rotation of the shaft of an internal combustion engine for generating a first train of pulses including a first reference pulse and a plurality of additional pulses and a second train of pulses indicative of the angular position of the shaft of the engine. Timing means are provided for measuring the passage of a predetermined fixed time period after the occurrence of the first reference pulse in the first train of pulses.
