  • Publication number: 20230257573
Abstract: The composition includes an acrylic polymer, a water-repellent polymer, and a stabilizer against ultraviolet light, in which the stabilizer is an ultraviolet light-absorber, a hindered amine light stabilizer, or a combination thereof. A coated article includes at least one of hardwood, softwood, oriented strand board, or plywood with a surface that is at least partially coated, wherein the surface that is at least partially coated has a b* value on the International Commission on Illumination L*, a*, and b* scale greater than 15 after 90 days of weathering. Methods of making the composition and the coated article are also described.

  • Publication number: 20110027492
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of making a fuel cell gas diffusion layer comprising the steps of a) providing a carbon fiber construction; b) coating at least the upper surface of the carbon fiber construction with composition which comprises a fluoropolymer; and c) exposing the upper surface to at least one plasma, such as a silane plasma, so as to generate a hydrophilic surface layer having a thickness of no more than 1 micron. The present invention also provides a method additionally comprising the step of partially covering the upper surface with a mask having windows according to a pattern, such that the hydrophilic surface layer is applied according to the pattern. The present invention also provides a method wherein the carbon fiber construction is provided as a roll good and the step of exposing said upper surface to at least one plasma is performed in continuous roll-to-roll fashion.

  • Patent number: 5549267
Abstract: A frame assembly for use on a device such a computer monitor having a front viewed surface surrounded by a housing. The frame assembly includes a stiff frame having generally planar front and rear surfaces that includes elongate border portions having inner edge surfaces that define an opening through the frame corresponding in shape to the front viewed surface. The rear surface of the frame can be attached along the front surface of the housing with the opening in the frame aligned with the front viewed surface, and a layer of repositionable pressure sensitive adhesive adhered to the frame is accessible along the front surface of the frame so that sheets of paper and other objects can be releasably adhered thereto. The frame assembly can be supplied as a part of a composite that can provide other separable smaller bulletin boards or frames that also can have pressure sensitive adhesive accessible along their front surfaces.

  • Patent number: 5286837
Abstract: Process for treating poly(esteramides) to improve the heat and storage stability thereof. Polymer is optionally suspended in a liquid medium, treated with an amide group-containing solvent, and then separated from the solvent and liquid medium (if any). Also, poly(esteramides) treated in this process and devices and articles comprising such poly(esteramides).
