  • Patent number: 9637809
Abstract: An alloy according to example embodiments of the present invention may include zirconium, tin, iron, chromium, and nickel, with a majority of the alloy being zirconium. The composition of the alloy may be about 0.85-2.00% tin by weight, about 0.15-0.30% iron by weight, about 0.40-0.75% chromium by weight, and less than 0.01% nickel by weight. The alloy may further include 0.004-0.020% silicon by weight, 0.004-0.020% carbon by weight, and/or 0.05-0.20% oxygen by weight. Accordingly, the alloy exhibits reduced hydrogen absorption and improved corrosion resistance and may be used to form a fuel assembly component.

  • Patent number: 9474258
Abstract: A bowfishing reel system that can use a standard reel or a normally biased open reel each having a lever that when actuated forces the bail into the open state. A mechanical coupling, such as a string is connected between the lever of the reel and the bow cable or bow string. When the bow is drawn, the mechanical couple causes the lever to be actuated and thus forcing the reel into the open state. As such, when a user goes to shoot an arrow at a target, as soon as the bow is drawn the bail is opened thus preventing back lash and injury.

  • Patent number: 9101119
Abstract: A bowfishing reel that is biased into an open position in which the line is free to be fed from the reel. When desired, the user can actuate a mechanism that forces the bail into the closed position while the mechanism is engaged. Once the mechanism is released, the bail returns to the open position.

  • Publication number: 20140254740
Abstract: Nuclear reactor components are treated with thermal methods to increase wear resistance. Example treatments include thermal treatments using particulate or powderized materials to form a coating. Methods can use cold spray, with low heat and high velocities to blast particles on the surface. The particles impact and mechanically deform, forming an interlocking coating with the surface and each other without melting or chemically reacting. Materials in the particles and resultant coatings include metallic alloys, ceramics, and/or metal oxides. Nuclear reactor components usable with methods of increased wear resistance include nuclear fuel rods and assemblies containing the same. Coatings may be formed on any desired surface, including fuel rod positions where spacer contact and fretting is most likely.

  • Patent number: 8366881
Abstract: The present invention is a method of making a near-premium quality paper product having good strength and absorbency characteristics and a product made by that method. The invention is also a method for retaining a high ash content within a paper web formed by conventional wet pressing. The present invention is also a method for retaining a high percentage of softening agent within a paper web that includes such an agent. Further, the present invention is a soft absorbent paper product having a high void volume. Finally, the invention is also a method for producing a soft, absorbent, and near premium paper product having a high void volume using an undulatory crepe blade having a multiplicity of serrulations in its rake surface which presents differentiated creping angles and/or rake angles as to the paper being creped.

  • Patent number: 8123905
Abstract: An absorbent paper sheet is treated with an aqueous wax dispersion such that the sheet includes a fused wax and emulsifier residue in an amount of from about 1 to about 20 weight percent of the sheet based on the combined weight of the fiber, wax residue and an emulsifier residue in the sheet. The fused wax emulsion operates to make at least one surface of the sheet laterally hydrophobic, exhibiting a moisture penetration delay of at least about 2 seconds and less than about 40 seconds as well as a typical contact angle with water at one minute of at least about 50 degrees. There is thus provided absorbent products which exhibit both absorbency and resistance to moisture penetration. The treated sheet further exhibits microbial barrier properties, impeding transfer of bacteria, for example, through the sheet. There are produced tissue products which resist moisture penetration from propelled liquids as well as sequester sorbed liquids in the interior of the tissue.
