Abstract: A method may include accepting a database query including an operator requesting two or more incoming tuple streams be combined into a result tuple stream. At least one data value in the incoming tuple streams may be represented by an enumeration value. The method may include generating a query execution plan for the database query. The query execution plan may include encoding the enumeration value and a corresponding source identifier into a composite union enumeration. The source identifier may identify which of the two or more tuple streams corresponds to the enumeration value. The method may further include executing the database query according to the query execution plan to obtain the data value and providing the data value in response to the database query.

Abstract: A device for introducing continuous fiber into a product material is provided. The continuous fiber is provided from at least one continuous fiber supply. The device comprises a housing having a first opening and a second opening. A channel is formed through the housing from the first opening to the second opening. At least one fin member extends from the housing into the channel with the at least one fin member having a conduit formed therethrough. Upon the product material travelling through the channel of the housing, the continuous fiber travels from the continuous fiber supply, through the conduit, and into the product material. The continuous fiber increases strength and stiffness of the product material while decreasing time-dependent creep deformation of the product material.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods for retrieving data from a database. Various embodiments operate by breaking a predicate tree into one or more predicate tree fragments and then executing the various fragments in parallel. The execution of each of the predicate tree fragments results in a bitmap fragment. The bitmap fragments from the execution of the predicate tree fragments can be then combined into a resulting bitmap.
