Patent number: 10136680Abstract: A shapewear or activewear garment that includes stays carried by the back fabric panel of the garment. In this regard, the stays act as anchors to keep the garment in place. Further, the stays provide tension that pulls the front fabric panel of the garment such that the front panel shapes and smoothes the wearer's midsection and or provides support and also provides resistance to shift when the garment is worn such that the garment does not ride up or down on the wearer.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2018Date of Patent: November 27, 2018Assignee: Cupid Foundations, Inc.Inventors: Anthony Angelino, David Welsch, Nancy S. Miller, Jennie M. Aburto

Patent number: 8839728Abstract: An undergarment includes at least one piece of fabric that forms the undergarment. The undergarment has leg openings. The fabric includes edges that surround the leg openings, whereby at least one of the edges surrounding the leg openings has a plurality of fibers and at least some of the fibers have free ends terminating at the at least one of the edges surrounding the leg openings. A bead of a cured polymer is disposed over the at least one of the edges surrounding the leg openings. The cured polymer bead forms a finished edge that is stretchable for adjusting to movement of the fabric.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 2012Date of Patent: September 23, 2014Assignee: Cupid Foundations, Inc.Inventors: Anthony Angelino, David Welsch, Ronald Boser

Patent number: 8176864Abstract: A garment having a finished edge that is an unopposed edge. The unopposed finished edge has a first bead of a polymer material in spaced relation to the unopposed edge. The first bead of a polymer material provides an unopposed, finished edge that is stretchable for adjusting to movement of said piece of fabric. The fabric also has a plurality of second beads of a cured polymer material provided on said fabric adjacent said first bead of a cured polymer.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 2007Date of Patent: May 15, 2012Assignee: Cupid Foundations, Inc.Inventors: Anthony Angelino, David Welsch, Ronald Boser

Publication number: 20090047481Abstract: A method and system for garment manufacture fixes a curable polymer in either a continuous bead or in a non-continuous or segmented bead onto a cut fabric piece. The cut fabric piece, the continuous bead and the non-continuous, segmented bead have a wide array of configurations. If the cut fabric piece has a contoured edge region, a silicone bead proximate that edge has a conforming configuration. In the method, the cut fabric piece is placed in a coordinate space. The location of the cut fabric piece is sensed and that information is used to control the movement of a curable polymer dispenser. The dispenser applies a curable polymer from the curable polymer dispenser onto the cut fabric piece in the desired configuration after which the polymer is cured. If the fabric is cotton, the curable polymer is drawn into the cotton fibers prior to cure.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 11, 2008Publication date: February 19, 2009Applicant: Cupid Foundations, Inc.Inventors: David Welsch, Anthony Angelino

Publication number: 20080302460Abstract: A method for garment manufacture fixes a smaller panel to a larger piece of body fabric using adhesive to form a panel/body fabric assembly that provides at least one of smoothness, fit adjustability, support and/or control to the a garment. The adhesive is applied to a predetermined limited region of the panel. The adhesive is a thermosetting adhesive. After the adhesive is applied, the body fabric is assembled to the panel. A system of fixing the panel to the body fabric provides a coordinate surface that supports and places the body fabric and the panel in a fixed predetermined location. An adhesive dispenser is positioned relative to the coordinate surface by a controller based upon the coordinates of the panel on the coordinate surface. The dispenser then dispenses adhesive on the. The system aligns and assembles the body fabric to the panel to form the body fabric/panel assembly.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 7, 2007Publication date: December 11, 2008Applicant: Cupid Foundations, Inc.Inventors: Anthony Angelino, David Welsch

Patent number: 7228809Abstract: A method of making a fabric having a finished edge includes providing a fabric having a plurality of fibers with free ends of the fibers at an edge of the fabric, disposing a curable polymer such as silicone over the edge of the fabric so that the curable polymer engages the free ends of the fibers at the edge of the fabric, and, after the disposing step, curing the polymer for finishing the edge of the fabric. The polymer binds the free ends of the fibers to prevent fraying of the fabric. The fabric is cut into a pattern piece for a garment before the step of disposing the curable polymer on the edge of the fabric.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 2004Date of Patent: June 12, 2007Assignee: Cupid Foundations, Inc.Inventors: Anthony Angelino, David Welsch, Ronald Boser

Publication number: 20070084390Abstract: A garment seam is formed between two fabric panels by abutting the edges of at least two panels and placing a strip of material carrying adhesive on the abutted edges to form the seam. The fabric panels have opposing major surfaces, the edges of the fabric panels being minor surfaces. The strip of material is applied on at least one major surface of the abutted fabric panels, but is optionally applied to both major surfaces of the abutted fabric panels. The strip of material is preferably thinner than the fabric panels. In some embodiments, the adhesive is a thermosetting adhesive that is applied on the strip of material in liquid form. A seam manufactured according to the present invention is less detectable through clothing than conventional multi-ply seams. Also the adhesive seam enables the manufacturer to tailor the garment to provide support or shape in a particular area (i.e. the area of the seam) in addition to providing the desirable smooth appearance.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 8, 2006Publication date: April 19, 2007Applicant: Cupid Foundations, Inc.Inventors: Anthony Angelino, Ronald Boser, David Welsch
