Abstract: Techniques and systems for testing, evaluating and/or otherwise assessing the operation of vehicles are discussed herein. Some aspects relate to a system and method which may receive, at a first computer system, vehicle data derived from a vehicle data logging system, and may receive a playback time associated with a portion of the vehicle data. A sharable data structure may be generated which identifies the vehicle data and the playback time. The sharable data structure may be transmitted to a second computer system, wherein the sharable data structure allows the second computer system to retrieve the vehicle data.

Aspects relate to a system and method comprising: receiving user interface configuration data; deriving therefrom a user interface configuration for a set of widgets; for each widget in the set of widgets, sending a request for a subset of data items of each of a plurality of data topics associated with a corresponding plurality of vehicle components, each said data topic being derived from a vehicle logging system and being associated with the vehicle run; receiving the requested subset of data items of each of the plurality of data topics for the vehicle run; and displaying, in a user interface comprising the set of widgets configured in accordance with the user interface configuration data, a visualization based on the subset of data items of the plurality of data topics for the vehicle run.

Aspects relate to a system and method comprising receiving vehicle data derived from a vehicle data logging system, the vehicle data being associated with a vehicle run and comprising a plurality of data topics associated with a corresponding plurality of vehicle components and displaying the vehicle data with a timeline component of a user interface during playback of the vehicle run, the timeline component comprising a portion in the user interface and the portion being configurable with a start time and an end time. The vehicle data may comprise timing data for at least one of the data topics and the vehicle data may be displayed at points in time along the portion in the user interface corresponding to the timing data.

Aspects relate to a system and method comprising receiving video data comprising a video stream derived from a camera during a vehicle run and being in a first format; storing part of the video stream in the first format; transcoding part of the video stream from the first format into a second format; storing, in a cache, the part of the video stream as video segments in the second format; receiving a request for video data associated with a point in time, wherein: if video segments in the second format do not correspond to the point in time, transcoding part of the video stream in the first format to the second format to create further second video segments in the second format; transmitting and storing, in the cache, the further second video segments.
