  • Patent number: 7289878
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing adjustment of current-related dispensing parameters in an electric dispensing gun. A control circuit receives user-selected inputs corresponding to dispensing parameters of the gun and converts those inputs into digital signals. The digital signals are applied to a digitally programmable driver circuit associated with the liquid dispensing gun to control at least some of the dispensing parameters of the gun. Diagnostic information pertinent to the operation of the dispensing gun is provided to the operator for evaluation and adjustment.

  • Patent number: 6737102
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for monitoring the application of a viscous material onto at least one moving strand or other narrow substrates. A detection unit, such as a machine vision system, an infrared sensor, an ultraviolet detector, or a light curtain with multiple detectors, senses radiation originating from the viscous material after it is applied to the strand or strands and, typically, before each strand is contacted with a substrate. The detection unit determines a detected value representative of a characteristic of the pattern from the sensed radiation, compares the detected value with a reference value representative of a desired standard for the characteristic, and outputs a signal in accordance with the result of the comparison.

  • Publication number: 20030173024
Abstract: A method of securing an elastic strand to a sheet of material includes moving the elastic strand and the sheet in a converging manner from a position in which the elastic strand is spaced from the sheet to another position in which the elastic strand contacts one surface of the sheet. Discrete dots of adhesive are intermittently applied to the strand. The dots of adhesive secure the strand to the sheet. Various articles of manufacture may be formed using the method, including hygienic articles such as diapers.

  • Patent number: 6534129
Abstract: An apparatus and method for dispensing one or more liquid beads on a substrate utilizes a liquid dispenser with one or more liquid dispensing outlets and one or more movable electrostatic point sources. Liquid material dispensed from an outlet is attracted to, or otherwise electrostatically influenced by, the electrostatic point source(s) resulting in controlled placement of the liquid material on a substrate passing or positioned between the outlet(s) and the point source(s).
