  • Publication number: 20180003975
Abstract: Disclosed herein are devices and methods to provide a holographic optical element (HOE) having a modified shape and a structural attribute. At least one wavefront may be used to cause a first structure change in a material, used for the HOE, in a first shape. The material used for the HOE may be changed from the first shape to the modified shape to cause a second structure change in the material. The structural attribute in the material may be provided from a combination of the first structure change and the second structure change.

  • Publication number: 20170101688
Abstract: The present invention features a method for determining the prognosis for survival of a cancer patient. Methods for measuring the level of NOL3 expression in a cancer cell-containing sample from a patient, and comparing the level of NOL3 expression in the sample to a reference level of NOL3 expression are also included. A higher level of NOL3 relative to the reference level correlates with decreased survival of the patient, and an equivalent or lower level of NOL3 relative to the reference level correlates with increased survival of the patient.

  • Publication number: 20150025911
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for providing a communication network allowing a user transmit confidential or sensitive information to a recipient through a third party, while ensuring that privacy is maintained. A user can access a mobile application to request a third party to send information to a recipient. Following the user request, a built-in procedure of the mobile application may automatically institute a consent process between the third party and the desired recipient, without requiring any further action on the part of the requesting user. A coded message may be delivered to the intended recipient, including a selectable link directing them to a consent procedure within the third party communication network service. Completion of the consent procedure creates an association between the requesting user and the intended recipient within a relationship database, allowing confidential information to be exchanged between the user and recipient, through the third party communication service.

  • Patent number: 7465391
Abstract: An apparatus for separating solid matter from a liquid stream, where the apparatus includes a generally cylindrical separation panel surrounding an interior space, which is oriented so as to have a substantially vertical longitudinal axis. The separation panel has a plurality of vertically and horizontally spaced openings which are adapted to remove solid material larger than a predetermined size from liquid passing through the separation panel. The apparatus also includes a chamber surrounding the separation panel and providing a chamber portion into which the liquid passes after passing through the separation panel. The apparatus may further include an inlet positioned below the separation panel, through which the liquid stream is delivered from a bottom opening of the separation panel to the interior space and which is arranged such that the liquid circulates about the axis so as to pass the separation panel, and an outlet extending from the chamber portion.

  • Patent number: 6172853
Abstract: A head suspension for supporting a head slider over a disk surface within a rigid disk drive includes a load beam with a flexure at a distal end of the load beam. The head suspension includes a motion limiter for restricting the range of motion of the flexure relative to the load beam. Toward this end, the motion limiter of the present invention includes a hook formed by bending a cantilever arm of the flexure to position a hook tip of the hook substantially over a load point of the suspension. The motion limiter constrains the load beam between the hook tip and the flexure in order to limit vertical displacement of the flexure relative to the load beam, as can occur through deflections caused by a shock load, through excessive pitch and roll motion of the flexure, or through operational movement of the head suspension assembly within the disk drive.

  • Patent number: 5901430
Abstract: A gimbal and corresponding head suspension assembly including a planar flexure platform having integral static attitude compensation, nominal angle adjustment, and load point etched or etched-formed raised features. The head suspension assembly can also include a load point cover with etched or etched-formed load point features. The etched features are manufactured by masking a pivot point at about the intersection of the roll axis and the pitch axis, thus leaving a raised protuberance having either a pivot point or a load point feature. The process of manufacturing etched-formed features includes etching protuberances and slots. A punch press is then applied to the protuberances. The slots help control the formation of raised domes and provide additional static compensation and nominal angle adjustment pivoting clearance.

  • Patent number: 5748409
Abstract: In a suspension assembly for a disk drive, a welding isolation structure for creating an isolated weld point and for substantially eliminating undesirable propagation of welding stresses during the welding of elements of the suspension assembly. The welding isolation structure is placed on selected locations on suspension assembly elements. The isolation structure includes a welding area, at least one isolation slot including a through aperture delineating at least a portion of the perimeter of the welding area, and at least one junction tab bridging the isolation slot and connecting the welding area to the remainder of the load beam. The isolation slots are designed to substantially relieve and contain welding stresses. In the suspension assembly, the tabs of each weld point are oriented generally in directions other than towards other weld points, such that additive and uneven propagation of welding stresses is prevented.

  • Patent number: 5461525
Abstract: A magnetic head suspension for attachment to a rigid arm comprises a spring load beam element and a flexure means joined to the distal end of the load beam element for supporting a read/write head. The spring load beam element portion is formed from material generally having a first thickness. The load beam has a central region in the spring region which has a second thickness, generally thinner than the first thickness. The second thickness may be formed by the partial or complete removal of load beam material in the central region. First thickness legs bounding the central region may be formed to be of widest width at the location proximal to the rigid section of the load beam, of medium width at the location distal to the rigid section of the load beam, and of narrowest width between the two ends of each leg, thus providing a load beam of good lateral stiffness and spring rate characteristics.

  • Patent number: 4700044
Abstract: Fine wires are soldered without flux to solder pads on a flexible circuit of a workpiece by a laser. The laser beam is aligned and moved over the solder pad to describe a rectangle by movement of mirrors on a programmed, motor driven X-Y-Z linear table. Wires are deeply sunk into the solder pads by the weight of a cone brought against the wire carried by the X-Y-Z table. Vaporized insulation is restrained within the cone to maintain a clean microelectronic workpiece.
