  • Patent number: 9616629
Abstract: A blade including a structure with aerodynamic profile including two opposite skins obtained by three-dimensional weaving of a fibrous reinforcement densified by a matrix, and a longeron including a fibrous reinforcement obtained by three-dimensional weaving and densified by a matrix, the longeron including a first part extending outside the structure with aerodynamic profile and designed to be connected to a drive hub in rotation of the blade and a second part arranged inside the structure with aerodynamic profile between the two skins. The second part of the longeron has a thickness substantially similar to that of the skins of the structure with aerodynamic profile. In addition, the fibrous reinforcement of the second part of the longeron has the same weaving armor as that of the reinforcement of the skins of the structure with aerodynamic profile.

  • Patent number: 9621726
Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method for detecting events for use in an automated call center environment are provided. A plurality of messages is monitored by a call center. Those messages sharing one or more keywords representative of one or more potential events are identified. The one or more potential events are detected based on the shared keywords. At least one of the potential events is identified as an event based on the number of messages that share the keywords representative of that potential event. Metadata regarding the event is extracted from the messages sharing the keywords representative of the event. A message regarding the event that includes the extracted metadata is generated. The generated message from the call center is provided to at least one user related to the event.

  • Patent number: 9618369
Abstract: Various uses of visible light interference patterns are provided. Suitable interference patterns are those formed by diffraction from patterns of apertures. Typical uses disclosed herein relate to spatial metrology, such as a translational and/or angular position determination system. Further uses include the analysis of properties of the light itself (such as the determination of the wavelength of the electromagnetic radiation). Still further uses include the analysis of one or more properties (e.g. refractive index) of the matter through which the light passes. Part of the interference pattern is captured at a pixellated detector, such as a CCD chip, and the captured pattern compared with a calculated pattern. Very precise measurements of the spacing between maxima is possible, thus allowing very precise measurements of position of the detector in the interference pattern.

  • Patent number: 9619076
Abstract: An electronic device displays a user interface in a first display state. The device detects a first portion of a gesture on a touch-sensitive surface, including detecting intensity of a respective contact of the gesture. In response to detecting the first portion of the gesture, the device displays an intermediate display state between the first display state and a second display state. In response to detecting the end of the gesture: if intensity of the respective contact had reached a predefined intensity threshold prior to the end of the gesture, the device displays the second display state; otherwise, the device redisplays the first display state. After displaying an animated transition between a first display state and a second state, the device, optionally, detects an increase of the contact intensity. In response, the device displays a continuation of the animation in accordance with the increasing intensity of the respective contact.

  • Patent number: 9619223
Abstract: Mechanisms are provided for performing a live update of an operating system. The mechanisms receive an update to an operating system and clone a root volume group associated with an operating system instance executing in a first logical partition of the data processing system to generate a cloned root volume group. The mechanisms apply the update to the cloned root volume group to generate an updated and cloned root volume group and boot a second logical partition of the data processing system using the updated and cloned root volume group. Moreover, the mechanisms migrate application instances and application data to the second logical partition.

  • Patent number: 9619954
Abstract: Systems of the present invention allow individuals to make and change reservations, check into accommodations, and gain access to their accommodations using their own mobile devices as well as mobile devices provided with the rooms. Room access can be through an entry control system comprising two modules that are mounted to a door and to a proximate wall, or similar fixed surface. One module communicates with an electronically controlled locking mechanism of the door lock, the other module wirelessly receives a room code from the user's mobile device. When the room code is correct, the second module communicates a signal to the first module which unlocks the lock.

  • Patent number: 9616987
Abstract: Marine engine includes a cylinder block having first and second banks of cylinders that are disposed along a longitudinal axis and extend transversely with respect to each other in a V-shape so as to define a valley therebetween. A catalyst receptacle is disposed at least partially in the valley and contains at least one catalyst that treats exhaust gas from the marine engine. A conduit conveys the exhaust gas from the marine engine to the catalyst receptacle. The conduit receives the exhaust gas from the first and second banks of cylinders and conveys the exhaust gas to the catalyst receptacle. The conduit reverses direction only once with respect to the longitudinal axis.

  • Patent number: 9620433
Abstract: System and method for thermal management in a multi-chip packaged device. A microelectronic unit is disclosed, and includes a semiconductor element having atop surface and a bottom surface remote from the top surface. A semiconductor device including active elements is located adjacent to the top surface. Operation of the semiconductor device generates heat. Additionally, one or more first blind vias extend from the bottom surface and partially into a thickness of the semiconductor element. In that manner, the blind via does not contact or extend to the semiconductor device (defined as active regions of the semiconductor element, and moreover, is electrically isolated from the semiconductor device. A thermally conductive material fills the one or more first blind vias for heat dissipation.

  • Patent number: 9617848
Abstract: This application describes methods and apparatus for downhole monitoring in real-time. The method involves interrogating an unmodified optic fiber (102) arranged along the path of a well bore (106) to provide a distributed acoustic sensor and sampling data gathered from a plurality of sensing portions of the fiber. The sampled data is then processed to provide a real-time indication of the acoustic signals detected by the sensing portions of the fiber. The real-time indication provides information to an operator or controller of the downwell process with real-time feedback data regarding what is happening during the downwell process which allows the identification of any problems and adjustment of the process parameters.

  • Patent number: 9619281
Abstract: Particular techniques for improving the scalability of concurrent programs (e.g., lock-based applications) may be effective in some environments and for some workloads, but not others. The systems described herein may automatically choose appropriate ones of these techniques to apply when executing lock-based applications at runtime, based on observations of the application in the current environment and with the current workload. In one example, two techniques for improving lock scalability (e.g., transactional lock elision using hardware transactional memory, and optimistic software techniques) may be integrated together. A lightweight runtime library built for this purpose may adapt its approach to managing concurrency by dynamically selecting one or more of these techniques (at different times) during execution of a given application.

  • Patent number: 9620332
Abstract: The present application discloses methods, systems and devices for using charged particle beam tools to inspect and perform lithography on a substrate using a combination of vectoring to move a beam to features to be imaged, and raster scanning to obtain an image of the feature(s). The inventors have discovered that it is highly advantageous to use an extra step, a fast raster scan to image the substrate at a lower resolution, to determine which features receive priority for inspection; this extra step can reduce total inspection time, enhance inspection results, and improve beam alignment and manufacturing yield. Using multiple beam-producing columns, with multiple control computers local to the columns, provides various synergies. Preferably, miniature, non-magnetic, electrostatically-driven columns are used.
