  • Patent number: 11925736
Abstract: Dialyzer systems can consolidate multiple technologies and functionalities of blood treatment systems in a significantly integrated fashion. For example, this disclosure describes dialyzer systems that include a magnetically driven and magnetically levitating pump rotor integrated into the dialyzer. Such a dialyzer can be used with treatment modules that include a magnetic field-generating pump drive unit. In some embodiments, the dialyzers include pressure sensor chambers with flexible membranes with which corresponding pressure transducers of the treatment modules can interface to detect arterial and/or venous pressures.

  • Patent number: 11712837
Abstract: A method for additive manufacturing includes forming an object including depositing a first material including a first coloring component and a second material including a second coloring component, wherein both the first material and the second material further include a corresponding fluorescent component, scanning the object, including causing an emission of an optical signal from the object, wherein the emission of the optical signal is caused at least in part by an emission from the fluorescent components interacting with the first coloring component and the second coloring component as it passes from the fluorescent components to the surface of the object, sensing the emission of the optical signal, and determining presence of the first material and the second material based at least in part on the sensed emission of the optical signal.

  • Publication number: 20210394436
Abstract: An approach to improving optical scanning increases the strength of optical reflection from the build material during fabrication. In some examples, the approach makes use of an additive (or a combination of multiple additives) that increases the received signal strength and/or improves the received signal-to-noise ratio in optical scanning for industrial metrology. Elements not naturally present in the material are introduced in the additives in order to increase fluorescence, scattering or luminescence. Such additives may include one or more of: small molecules, polymers, peptides, proteins, metal or semiconductive nanoparticles, and silicate nanoparticles.

  • Publication number: 20150278901
Abstract: In certain embodiments, the invention relates to systems, methods, and apparatus that allow a purchaser to customize a test kit based upon a literature search. A processor receives one or more search terms entered by a user and constructs a query comprising the one or more search terms. The processor obtains from one or more literature repositories a plurality of search results responsive to the query. The processor identifies one or more domain terms (relating to a scientific domain) within the plurality of search results. The processor prioritizes the one or more scientific domain terms based in part upon frequency of occurrence within the plurality of search results, and selects one or more order components relating to a tangible product, each order component relating to a respective scientific domain term of the one or more scientific domain terms. The order information is displayed to a user.

  • Publication number: 20130244909
Abstract: A method may include accessing data regarding a number of events, where the events were detected by a particle detection apparatus, and identifying a number of groups in the events. Each of the groups includes two or more events, and each event includes one or more of a time stamp, a time duration, a fluorescence intensity, a scatter measurement, a radio frequency signal, a magnetic signal, a neutron scattering measurement, a light scattering measurement, an electron scattering measurement, an audio signal, an acoustic signal, a mechanical signal, an electrical resistance, a thermal property, and a width of fluorescence signal. The method may include identifying a subset of the groups as a number of objects detected by the particle detection apparatus, where each object is identified based at least in part upon one or more quantities, where each quantity is identified by or derived from the respective two or more events.

  • Publication number: 20060148104
Abstract: The invention provides nanosensors and nanosensor components for the detection of ion channel activity, receptor activity, or protein protein interactions. Certain of the nanosensor components comprise a nanoparticle and recognition domain. Following contact with cells and, optionally, internalization of the nanosensor component by a cell, the recognition domain binds to a target domain, e.g., a heterologous target domain, of a polypeptide of interest such as an ion channel subunit, G protein coupled receptor (GPCR), or G protein subunit. Ion channel activity, GPCR activity, or altered protein interaction results in a detectable signal. The nanoparticles may be functionalized so that they respond to the presence of an ion by altering their proximity. Certain of the nanosensors utilize the phenomenon of plasmon resonance to produce a signal while others utilize magnetic properties, RET, and/or ion-sensitive moieties. Also provided are polypeptides, e.g.
