  • Patent number: 11799477
Abstract: A rocker switch includes a rocker switch housing and a first magnet sensor. The rocker switch further includes a button rotatably mounted to the rocker switch housing about a first axis. The rocker switch also includes a magnet holder in contact with the button and rotatably mounted to the rocker switch housing about a second axis different from the first axis. The magnet holder holds a first magnet having a first polarity and a second magnet having a second polarity different from the first polarity. When the button is in a first button position, the button biases the magnet holder to a first magnet holder position, in which the first magnet is proximate to the magnet sensor. When the button is in a second button position, the button biases the magnet holder to a second magnet holder position, in which the second magnet is proximate to the magnet sensor.

  • Patent number: 7460344
Abstract: A battery disconnect includes a housing, battery and load terminals, separable contacts electrically connected between the battery and load terminals, an operating mechanism structured to open and close the contacts, and a manual operator cooperating with the operating mechanism to open and close the contacts. A current sensor is structured to sense current flowing between the battery and load terminals. A circuit cooperates with the current sensor and the operating mechanism to trip open the contacts responsive to arc fault, overload and short circuit conditions associated with the sensed current. The circuit includes a first input structured to receive a remote on/off signal and a second input structured to receive an inhibit signal. The circuit cooperates with the operating mechanism to open and close the contacts responsive to the on/off signal, and to inhibit detection of the arc fault, overload and short circuit conditions responsive to the inhibit signal.

  • Publication number: 20080041707
Abstract: A sealing assembly for a moveable shaft is provided. The sealing assembly includes a housing with a recess disposed therein. A resilient member with an inner diameter and an outer diameter is provided that is disposed within the recess. The outer diameter of the resilient member is greater than an inner diameter of the recess which provides an interference fit between the resilient member and the recess in order to compressingly engage the resilient member with the recess and hold the resilient member within the recess. An outer diameter of the moveable shaft is greater than the inner diameter of the resilient member which provides an interference fit between the moveable shaft and the resilient member in order to compressingly engage the resilient member with the moveable shaft. A switch having a sealing assembly for a moveable shaft is also provided.

  • Patent number: 7105762
Abstract: An actuator assembly is for a short-depth rocker switch including a housing having an opening, a cavity, a base, and a first depth between the opening and base. The actuator assembly includes an operating member having a first end disposed proximate the opening, and a second end extending into the cavity, and, an over-center mechanism disposed proximate the first end of the operating member, distal from the second end of the operating member. The over-center mechanism comprises a one or two-piece shaped element which defines a plurality of operating characteristics of the operating member, and which has a second depth which is less than about 25 percent of the first depth of the housing. This enables the overall depth of the rocker switch to be relatively short in comparison to known designs. A sensor for detecting the position of the second end of the operating member is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7026565
Abstract: An actuator subassembly is for a rocker switch. The actuator subassembly forms a self-contained unit removably inserted within the rocker switch to define the operating characteristics thereof. The actuator subassembly includes an operating member operable between a plurality of positions, an extension and a spring-biased plunger. A shaped member which is pivotally coupled to the operating member includes a plurality of shaped sections each corresponding to one of the positions of the operating member. Each shaped section has a profile which is designed to provide the desired rocker switch operating characteristics, such as the type of action of the operating member and the operating force for the operating member.
