    Abstract: A system configured to expand the utility of DNS in a network is disclosed. A DNS command not only carries the host name for an application server but also a command name or reference and optionally one or more parameters for the command. In other words, a command may be parameterized by encoding the arguments into the domain name preceding the sub-zone. Thus, a client can make use of available server computing resources by issuing DNS commands to a network.
