Abstract: An equipment recovery system receives data relating to leased property and associated lease accounts. The system provides lessees with interactive messages that enable them to make payments or payment commitments. Lessees may also make arrangements to return the property or surrender them to retrieval agents. Messages may be left for lessees, enabling them to contact the system or a call center to remedy delinquent payments or arrange return of the property. The system sends interactive messages to agents of lessors enabling them to: check delinquency or payment status; accept payments; make arrangements for the retrieval of the property; or report the outcome of a retrieval attempt. Contact between the system and either the lessee or the agent may be recorded and data received may be stored and reported.
