Patent number: 10709631Abstract: A compression garment for a neurological disorder includes a body portion and a pad. The body portion may be operable to wrap around a foot and the pad can attach to an inner surface of the body portion. The pad can include an outward protrusion and/or an inward recess. A guide sleeve may be dimensioned to wrap together with the body portion around the foot, the pad being disposable between the body portion and the guide sleeve. A first tensioning band may be attached onto to first and second locations of the body portion and be operable to secure opposing first and second portions of the inner surface of the body portion to secure the outward protrusion and/or recess of the pad against the abductor hallucis and flexor hallucis brevis muscles of the foot. The outward protrusion can include a receiver for the metatarsal head.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2017Date of Patent: July 14, 2020Assignee: MEDI USA, L.P.Inventors: Kevin Larmer, Moses Lipshaw, Thomas Richardson, Karen Lynch, Glenn Anderson, Dean Bender, Chris Majors, Mary Sorg

Patent number: 6807541Abstract: A weak record locking scheme that, while enforcing serialization of record updates, permits a read to extract data from uncommitted updates. Specifically, records are locked in association with a process or thread performing a lock. When the records affected by a transaction are initially locked for reading or updating, they are locked at the process level. When a particular record is to be read or updated as part of a transaction, it is locked at the thread level. A read transaction that will accept uncommitted changes uses a weak lock to lock the record for reading. A weak lock may be made on a record so long as the record is not already locked for updating at the thread level. While a record is weakly locked for reading, it cannot be locked for updating at the thread level. A record may thus be weakly locked even though the record is locked for updating at the process level by the same process. Weak locking thus preserves serialization of updates, while reducing delays caused by locking conflicts.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 2002Date of Patent: October 19, 2004Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Daniel Dean Bender, Thomas Owen McKinley, Robert Paul Mech, Robert Anthony Petrillo, Richard Miles Rocheleau

Patent number: 6155441Abstract: A locking mechanism for a plurality of interconnected beam members and upright members used in a rack or shelf system. For rack assembly, headed lugs on beam ends are slid into selected key-hole slots on the uprights. The locking mechanism uses a spring-loaded, captive pin translatable from a locked position to an unlocked position, and rotatable from an enabled position to a disabled position. When enabled and urged into a locked position, the pin enters an upper portion of the key-hole, vacated by the lug head when the beam and uprights are interconnected. The pin thereby prevents the lug head from being removed from the key-hole. Both automatic and manual operation of the locking mechanism is possible.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 1998Date of Patent: December 5, 2000Inventors: Bob R. Andersen, Raymond Dean Bender, Dennis A.
