  • Patent number: 11787025
Abstract: A torque wrench for use in driving fasteners is provided. The wrench includes an electronics unit disposed within a housing engaged with the body of the wrench that is capable of sensing and measuring the torque applied to a fastener by the wrench and providing an output of the level of torque to the user. The data sensed by the electronics unit can be utilized to provide feedback to the user regarding the operation of the wrench, and to monitor the overall operation of the wrench for calibration purposes, among other functions. During use, the wrench can provide the user with visual, audible and tactile feedback regarding the operation of the device relative to stored maximum torque values stored in the electronics unit. The housing for the electronics unit can be formed to be a single use component of the tool or can be designed for multiple uses with a configuration that can be engaged with cradles forming the body of the wrench having various different configurations.

The wrench includes an electronics unit disposed within a body of the wrench that is capable of sensing and measuring the torque applied to a fastener by the wrench and providing an output of the level of torque to the user. The electronics unit is also disposed within a barrier in the body that isolates the unit from the exterior environment around the wrench.

  • Patent number: 5891065
Abstract: The present invention is a vehicle having a mobile extremity pumping apparatus mounted thereon. The mobile extremity pumping apparatus comprises a control module, a driver module and one or more compression units. A two-layer bladder assembly is positioned between the inner layer and the outer shell comprising precompression and compression bladder layers. The precompression bladder layer extends longitudinally along the person's extremity with the individual bladders each wrapping around and arranged sequentially along the extremity. The precompression bladder layer is surrounded by a compression bladder layer mounted between the precompression bladder layer and the outer shell. A pump in the driver module compresses the media, which may be water, air, or similar media, and directs the compressed media to a manifold for distribution to each valve in the driver module.

  • Patent number: 5437610
Abstract: A portable, hydraulic extremity pump apparatus for treatment of edema is disclosed. The apparatus consists of a flexible compression unit that wraps around an individual's extremity. The compression unity has a plurality of prefill bladders each containing a separate compression bladder. The bladders are connected to a hydraulic pump through valves. Pressure sensors are connected to prefill bladders. The valves, the pump and the pressure sensors are all connected to a programmable control processor to operate the valves and pump and to monitor the bladder pressures. The valves to the prefill bladders are closed at an appropriate pressurization and the pump is shut down to mold the compression unit around the extremity. The occurrence of edema may then be detected by the monitoring of the pressure in the prefill bladders.

  • Patent number: 5314457
Abstract: A regenerative electrical stimulation device comprising a stimulator portion to be surgically implanted in patients and an external controller portion. The implanted stimulator portion provides electrical stimuli of selected parameters to damaged nerve tissue to stimulate regeneration and/or healing of the damaged nerve tissue. The external controller portion communicates with the implanted stimulator portion to turn the stimulator portion on and off, to change the parameters of the electrical stimuli, to recharge the batteries, and to monitor the status of the batteries. The implanted portion has an antenna coil, a receiver, a programmable control processor, rechargeable batteries, and a passive transmitter. The external controller portion has an antenna coil, a control processor, a transmitter, a receiver for receiving the data passively transmitted by the implantable portion, and a display means.

  • Patent number: 5069210
Abstract: A cochlear prosthesis composed of a transmitter part which is to be carried exterior to the user's body and a receiver part which is to be implanted in the user, the transmitter and receiver parts being coupled by a radio link provided by implanted receiver coils and external transmitter coils free of any percutaneous connections. In the transmitter part, sound signals are obtained in plurality of channels, and these channels are frequency multiplexed into a composite signal with the aid of a plurality of surface acoustic wave filters, each having a respective passband. In the implanted receiver, the received composite signal is frequency demultiplexed by means of a similar plurality of surface acoustic wave filters each having a respective passband. A further signal is transmitted from the transmitter part to the receiver part via the radio link in order to supply operating power for the circuits in the receiver part, where the further signal is rectified to produce d.c. operating voltages.
