  • Patent number: 11785396
Abstract: An Internet-connected system and method for adapting a hearing configuration in a smart environment includes a hearing system including a hearing device. The hearing system connects to the Internet and transmits or receives an identification parameter corresponding to the hearing system. The hearing system receives a hearing program parameter over the Internet for configuring the hearing device when the hearing system is within a smart environment defined by a smart space system. The hearing program parameter computed is based on an environmental parameter measured within the smart environment by a sensor system of the smart space system. The hearing program parameter is sent to the hearing system over the Internet in response to a discovery system of the smart space system detecting the presence of the hearing system in the smart environment in response to receiving the identification parameter. The hearing device is programmed based on the hearing program parameter.

  • Publication number: 20220295194
Abstract: In an audio signal, one or more processing circuits recognize spoken content in a user's own speech signal using speech recognition and natural language understanding. The spoken content describes a listening difficulty of the user. The one or more processing circuits generate, based on the spoken content, one or more actions for hearing devices and feedback for the user. The one or more actions attempt to resolve the listening difficulty. Additionally, the one or more processing circuits convert the user feedback to verbal feedback using speech synthesis and transmit the one or more actions and the verbal feedback to the hearing devices via a body-worn device. The hearing devices are configured to perform the one or more actions and play back the verbal feedback to the user.

  • Publication number: 20220036878
Abstract: A computing system may store user profile information of a user of an ear-wearable device, where the user profile information includes parameters that control operation of the ear-wearable device. The computing system may also obtain audio data from one or more sensors that are included in the ear-wearable device and determine whether to generate speech assessment data based on the user profile information of the user and audio data. In some examples, the computing system may compare one or more acoustic parameters determined based on the audio data with an acoustic criterion determined based on the user profile information of the user. If one or more acoustic parameters satisfy the acoustic criterion, the computing system may generate speech assessment data based on the determination.

  • Publication number: 20210274292
Abstract: Various embodiments of a hearing device including an image sensor are disclosed. The hearing device can include a housing, a user sensory interface connected to the housing, an image sensor connected to the housing, and an acoustic sensor connected to the housing. The device can also include a processor that is adapted to process image data from the image sensor to identify an image object, process acoustic data from the acoustic sensor, and determine a spatial location of the image object based upon at least one of the processed image data and the processed acoustic data. The processor can also be adapted to provide the spatial location to the user sensory interface, which can provide a sensory stimulus to the user that is representative of the spatial location of the image object.
