  • Publication number: 20230059417
Abstract: The technology relates to providing an enhanced user experience for riders in autonomous vehicles. Two or more displays may be arranged at different locations within a vehicle to provide notifications, alerts and control options. Information may be dynamically and automatically switched between these displays, as well as a rider's own personal communication device(s). What information to present on each screen can depend on factors including how many riders are in the vehicle, their seating within the vehicle, how their attention is focused and/or display location and size. Certain information may be mirrored or otherwise duplicated among multiple screens while other information can be presented asymmetrically on different screens. Presented information may include a “monologue” from the vehicle explaining why a driving action is taken or not taken, alerts about important conditions, buttons to control certain functionality of the vehicle, or other information that may be of interest to the rider.

  • Patent number: 10492029
Abstract: This document describes systems, methods, devices, and other techniques for sharing navigation data among computing devices. The techniques can include identifying, by a first computing device, a second computing device, based on the first computing device detecting an audio signal emitted by one or more speakers of the second computing device, wherein the second computing device is running a navigation application that has been programed to navigate a geographic route. Using information encoded in the audio signal that was emitted by the one or more speakers of the second computing device, the first computing device can determine the geographic route that the navigation application running on the second computing device has been programmed to navigate. A representation of the geographic route can be displayed on an electronic display of the first computing device.

  • Patent number: 7180404
Abstract: A wireless sensor system includes a passive sensor apparatus configured to be embedded within a concrete structure to monitor infiltration of contaminants into the structure. The sensor apparatus includes charging circuitry and a plurality of sensors respectively configured to measure environmental parameters of the structure which include information related to the infiltration of contaminants into the structure. A reader apparatus is communicatively coupled to the sensor apparatus, the reader apparatus being configured to provide power to the charging circuitry during measurements of the environmental parameters by the sensors. The reader apparatus is configured to independently interrogate individual ones of the sensors to obtain information measured by the individual sensors. The reader apparatus is configured to generate an induction field to energize the sensor apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6385857
Abstract: Position detectors, welding system position detectors, methods of detecting various positions, and methods of providing position detectors are described. In one embodiment, a welding system positional detector includes a base that is configured to engage and be moved along a curved surface of a welding work piece. At least one position detection apparatus is provided and is connected with the base and configured to measure angular position of the detector relative to a reference vector. In another embodiment, a welding system positional detector includes a weld head and at least one inclinometer mounted on the weld head. The one inclinometer is configured to develop positional data relative to a reference vector and the position of the weld head on a non-planar weldable work piece.
