  • Patent number: 8613718
Abstract: A tampon applicator having an outer member adapted to house a tampon and receive an inner member. The outer member includes a fingergrip region having an indentation region that extends inwardly from the outer surface of the outer member. The indentation region has a depth dimension that is measured from the outer surface of the outer member to a lowest point of the indentation region. The indentation region comprises a first raised portion and a second raised portion, each of which having a height dimension that is measured from an individual raised portion's base to an individual raised portion's highest point, wherein the height dimension is less than the depth dimension. The first raised portion is a different size and a different shape as compared to the second raised portion.

  • Publication number: 20040225272
Abstract: The present invention relates to a catamenial tampon with a joined skirt portion. The tampon includes an absorbent material having a first surface opposed to the second surface and an insertion end opposed to a withdrawal end. The overwrap covers at least a portion of the first surface and the second surface proximal to the withdrawal end of the absorbent material. The overwrap extends beyond the withdrawal end of the first surface of the absorbent material to define a first skirt portion. The overwrap also extends beyond the withdrawal end of the second surface of the absorbent material to define a second skirt portion. The first skirt portion is joined to the second skirt portion proximal to the withdrawal end of the absorbent.

  • Patent number: 6325787
Abstract: Absorbent articles such as disposable diapers, incontinent briefs, diaper holders, training pants, feminine hygiene garments and the like, that have a unique waist feature that improves the dynamic fit as well as the containment characteristics of the absorbent article. Such absorbent articles comprise a chassis assembly preferably comprising a liquid pervious topsheet, a liquid impervious backsheet, and an absorbent core positioned between the topsheet and the backsheet; an extensible back waist feature; and a closure system for maintaining the absorbent article on the wearer. The extensible back waist feature provides an extensible feature that provides a more comfortable and contouring fit by initially conformably fitting the diaper to the wearer and by sustaining this fit. The extensible back waist feature has a hip panel, a central waistband panel, and a pair of side panels. The force/extension characteristics of each panel is designed to provide such improved fit and containment.

  • Patent number: 5776121
Abstract: Absorbent articles, such as disposable diapers, having two waist regions and a crotch region are provided. The absorbent articles comprise a liquid pervious topsheet, a liquid impervious backsheet, an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet, and a pair of longitudinally extending barrier cuffs. The barrier cuffs are formed from a lateral extension of the topsheet and the backsheet in at least the crotch region of the absorbent article using material that is normally discarded when the crotch area is formed. A cuff area is defined by pairs of laterally opposed cuts in the lateral extension of the topsheet and the backsheet. The cuff area is then folded and joined to the topsheet or other underlying structure to form the barrier cuff and an optional gasketing cuff.
