  • Publication number: 20090194960
Abstract: A non-motorized scooter is provided with a base and front and rear wheels mounted on the base. A seat is mounted on the base for folding between an upright riding position and a folded storage position. Handlebars are pivotally mounted on the base for movement between an upright riding position and a folded storage position. The seat and handlebars fold toward one another in a side-by-side position for storage. Outrigger wheels on the rear of the scooter maintain the scooter in an upright position without touching by a person. The height of the seat and handlebars can be adjusted for both the riding position and the storage position, such that the scooter can be used as a crutch or cane when the seat and handlebars are folded downwardly. Optional accessories may be provided for the scooter, including a light, a water bottle holder, and a storage basket.

  • Publication number: 20070157498
Abstract: A plurality of identification bracelets removably attached to one another, each bracelet having a first end which includes a cover tab and a second end defining a closure tab having an adhesive portion. The cover tab of a second bracelet removably overlies the adhesive portion of a closure tab of an adjacent first identification bracelet. Upon separating the first and second bracelets, the adhesive portion of the first bracelet is exposed and the cover tab remains with the second bracelet as it is removed. The adhesive portion of the closure tab of the first bracelet is adhered to a surface of the first bracelet as it is moved from an open position to a closed position encircling an object to be identified.

  • Publication number: 20070028495
Abstract: An improved identification band such as a wristband is provided for mounting onto a specific person or object. The improved identification band includes a primary identification zone adapted to receive human-readable and/or machine readable information as by printing and/or programming of a radio frequency identification (RFID) circuit. The band further includes multiple detachable adhesive labels forming a portion of the band and multiple detachable cards forming a tail end extension thereof, wherein each label is adapted to receive human-readable and/or machine readable information as by printing and/or programming of a radio frequency identification (RFID) circuit. In use, such as when worn by a patient in a hospital or the like, the detachable labels and cards are individually separable from the identification band on an as-needed basis for association with other objects associated with the band wearer, such as a vial containing a patient blood sample or the like.

  • Publication number: 20060149314
Abstract: Implant devices for filtering blood flowing through the ostium of an atrial appendage have component structures one or more of which are expandable. Devices with component structures in their unexpanded state have a compact size suitable for intra-cutaneous delivery to an atrial appendage situs. The expandable component structures are expanded in situ to deploy the devices. A device may have sufficiently short axial length so that most or almost all of the device length may fit within the ostium region. An expandable component structure in the device may include a blood-permeable filter element. The device may be deployed so that this component structure covers the ostium so as to direct the blood flow to pass through the filter element. The filter elements used in the devices may have hole size distributions selected to filter out harmful-size emboli. The filter elements may be embedded in elastic material so that hole-size distributions remain substantially unaffected by expansion of the device structures.

  • Publication number: 20030212447
Abstract: A delivery system for implantation of a self-expanding stent in a vessel consists of an elongate flexible catheter for delivering a self-expanding stent to a predetermined location in a vessel. The stent surrounds the flexible catheter near its distal end and is held in a delivery configuration where the stent has a reduced radius along its entire axial length by a stent retaining and release means. The stent retaining and release means is either one or more slipping sleeves which either contain the stent themselves or form a waterproof chamber with the stent being contained by water soluble bands or swelling bands. The stent retaining and release means can also be a pair of sleeves connected to hydraulic pistons, or a pair of sleeves connected to push/pull wires.

  • Publication number: 20030181942
Abstract: Instrumentation for percutaneous delivery of blood filtration devices to atrial appendages includes a curved access sheath and a delivery tube. The curved access sheath is coursed through the patient's vasculature to gain transseptal access to a left atrial appendage. A compressed filter device attached to a tether wire is loaded in the delivery tube. The loaded delivery tube is advanced through the pre-positioned access sheath to place the device in a deployment position. The access sheath and the delivery tube can be mechanically locked and moved together to place the device in a suitable deployment position. The device is deployed by expelling it from the delivery tube either by retracting the delivery tube over the tether wire, or by moving the tether wire forward through the delivery tube. The expelled device, which is not constrained by the delivery tube walls, self expands to its useful size in the subject atrial appendage.

  • Patent number: 6584809
Abstract: In an apparatus and method of forming fibers from a fiberizable material, a molten fiberizable material is introduced into a rotating fiberizing rotor and passed through a plurality of holes in an annular peripheral sidewall of the fiberizing rotor to form primary fibers from the fiberizable material. The primary fibers are introduced into hot combustion gases and pressurized air in a fiberization zone adjacent an outer surface of the annular peripheral sidewall of the rotary fiberizing rotor to attenuate and form the primary fibers into fibers of the desired diameter and length. The hot combustion gases are discharged from an annular air cooled burner and the pressurized air, which is discharged from an annular air ring, is the same pressurized air used to cool the annular air cooled burner.
