  • Patent number: 4766720
Abstract: Conventional apparatus for pressing the track links onto pin and bushings of the track chain during assembly thereof experience difficulty in aligning the links with the pin and bushings because the presses become somewhat loose and out of alignment. The subject apparatus overcomes this problem by providing a self aligning feature in the link locating and driving means. The link locating and driving member is mounted on the pressure plate that is attached to the press rams. A support plate is guided from the pressure plate by guides and resilient members that allow the support plate to shift with respect to the pressure plate with the aid of tapered noses on plungers supported by pressure barrels as the rams move forwardly to press the links onto the pin and bushings held in a fixture. In this manner any misalignment is accounted for by the self-aligning feature of the locating and driving members.

  • Patent number: 4268019
Abstract: PCT No. PCT/US79/00283 Sec. 371 Date Apr. 30, 1979 Sec. 102(e) Date Apr. 30, 1979 PCT Filed Apr. 30, 1979 PCT Pub. No. WO80/02396 PCT Pub. Date Nov. 13, 1980A fixture (10) for repairing track links (19) comprises support members (15) having a plurality of locating pins (18) for positioning the links (19) thereon. A plurality of clamping bars (24) each extends through a group of laterally aligned links (19) to secure them in place on the support members (15). In carrying forth the method of this invention, a link assembly is separated into its individual links (19) which are mounted in longitudinally aligned and side-to-side relationship on the fixture (10). The fixture and method of this invention provide for the economical and expeditious repair of the links (19) by compactly mounting the links (19) on the fixture.

  • Patent number: 4202224
Abstract: For use in rotating a bushing of an assembled track, wherein the bushing is press-fitted into apertures of a pair of links, first and second members are securable to one and the other of such pair of links, and a rapidly extendable and retractable cylinder interconnects the first and second members for providing a vibratory motion which, for optimum results, should be at resonant frequency to the links while rotational torque is being applied to such bushing.
