  • Patent number: 5642547
Abstract: An attachment device for attaching an article of bedding to a mattress includes a generally flat gripper plate with a keyhole opening extending therethrough. A strip of elastic material attaches the gripper plate to the border of the mattress substantially halfway between the top and bottom surfaces of the mattress. A stud has head and base portions that are each too large to pass through the narrow region of the keyhole opening but at least the base portion is small enough to pass through the wide region of the keyhole opening. The stud has a neck portion that connects the base portion and the head portion and is narrow enough to enter the narrow region of the keyhole opening.

  • Patent number: 5632054
Abstract: A mattress has a corner at which two edges of the wall of the mattress meet. A handle has two end regions attached to the two edges respectively of the mattress wall adjacent the corner and has a medial portion that wraps around the corner. An elastic cord has two end regions attached to the two end regions respectively of the handle and has a medial portion that wraps around the corner of the mattress with the medial portion of the handle between the mattress and the medial portion of the cord. A gripper plate is attached to the plastic cord for securing a sheet or blanket to the mattress.

  • Patent number: 4972534
Abstract: A mattress cover for use on a conventional innerspring mattress to give the same feeling as is provided by a waterbed, including a liquid-filled flat bladder having a small height from its top wall to its bottom wall. Insulative padding is included in a casing and held in position atop the bladder to reduce loss of a user's body heat to the liquid, and to provide support. The floating sensation imparted by the flotation cover is facilitated by a wall construction being of sufficient thickness to contain the water within a substantially fixed volume. Fibrous material may be arranged within the bladder to damp wave action of the liquid to a limited degree. A liner surroundingly encloses the lower parts of the bladder within the fabric casing to contain liquid leakage.

  • Patent number: 4862541
Abstract: A device for attaching a sheet to a mattress comprises an elongate, inextensible strap having first and second opposite ends. The strap is positionable under the mattress across a corner thereof with the first and second opposite ends projecting beyond the two edges respectively. A first fastener is attachable to the strap at the first end thereof and comprises a plate member and a stud. The plate member has two opposite sides and is formed with an elongate opening extending therethrough. The opening has two regions, one of which is narrower than the other. The stud has a base portion, a head portion and a neck portion. The neck portion connects the base portion and the head portion. The base portion is sized to pass through the wider region of the opening, but both the head portion and the base portion are too large to pass through the narrower region. The neck portion is sufficiently narrow to enter the narrower region of the opening. A second fastener is attachable to the strap at the second end thereof.

  • Patent number: 4782543
Abstract: A device for attaching flat bed sheets and other bed covers to a waterbed and for retaining them neatly in a desired position atop the mattress of a waterbed includes a fastener including a slot and stud combination, attached to an elastic connector extending from the fastener to a retainer portion of relatively stiff construction and extending parallel with the bottom of the waterbed, beneath the mattress thereof. The retainer may include openings therethrough, or in another embodiment may include suction cups for gripping the lower surface of the mattress.

  • Patent number: 4660240
Abstract: A bed sheet attachment device for use in combination with a waterbed of the type having an upwardly open box-like base holding a fluid-filled flexible mattress. A flat first member of the attachment device defines an opening including a slot and a larger portion connected therewith. A cooperative stud has a neck which fits in the slot, and two larger portions on opposite ends of the neck. At least one of the larger portions of the stud is smaller than the larger part of the opening, so that the stud will fit matingly in the slot with a part of a bed sheet protruding through the slot and wrapped around the neck of the stud. A flexible elastic member connects the first member to the interior of the base of the waterbed, applying tension which urges the stud and sheet toward the narrow end of the slot and holds the sheet in place on the waterbed.
