  • Patent number: 7819796
Abstract: The present invention relates to constructs and methods used to enhance the attachment and implantation of an embryo. It is shown that modified glycolipids and glycolipid-attachment molecule constructs can be used to modify embryos, or localised to target tissues, to enhance interaction between the embryo and the target tissue, (typically the endometrium). The invention may advantageously be used to enhance implantation of embryos in the uterus, for example, in IVF treatments.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: October 26, 2010
    Assignee: Kode Biotech Limited
Inventors: Deborah A. Blake, Nicola L. Carter, Stephen M. Henry

  • Publication number: 20050042697
Abstract: The invention provides for a process for preparing a sensitivity control for blood group determination including dissolving an amount of an antigen in water to give an antigen solution of known concentration, contacting the antigen solution with cells to allow insertion of antigen molecules into the cell membranes of the cells to give transformed cells or contacting the antigen solution with cells that have been modified by the insertion of a linker molecule into the membranes of the cells to allow attachment of antigen molecules to the linker molecules to give transformed cells, washing the transformed cells to give a transformed cell solution, and determining the concentration of the transformed cell solution to enable the solution to be used as a sensitivity control for blood group determination.

  • Patent number: 5718189
Abstract: A belt having first and second ends is adapted to encircle the waist of a user. A quick-release fastener is provided between the two ends and is releasable by pulling outwardly on a protruding hand loop at one free end of the belt. A leash can be secured to the belt at a location between its two ends. The belt provides normal control to a leashed animal or child, allowing the user's arms to swing freely while walking or running. Continuous control of an animal or child during and after release of the belt is provided by grasping the hand loop and pulling outwardly, thereby causing a portion of the belt to act as a hand-held leash extension.
