  • Patent number: 10842469
Abstract: A biopsy tracking kit includes a trocar, a stylet, a biopsy needle, a biopsy tracking cassette, and a fiducial marker. The trocar has a cannula with a blunt first end and a second end with a cup. The stylet has a conical tip at a first end and a cap on a second end that engages the cup of the trocar and prevents the stylet from falling through the trocar. The biopsy needle is used to obtain biopsy specimens when inserted through the trocar. The biopsy tracking cassette comprises an internal surface with a plurality of coded zones in a single column, and is used to differentiate the biopsy specimen into smaller regions. The fiducial marker is oriented to mark the position where the biopsy specimen was taken. Other systems, devices, and methods of use are also described.

    Assignee: UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS OF CLEVELAND
Inventors: Rodney Ellis, Deborah A. Kaminsky

  • Patent number: 7831293
Abstract: A method of defining a biological target for treatment in which image detectable markers are placed at and correlated to the location or locations of tissue biopsy. By obtaining pathological analysis of the biopsy tissue specimens and correlating the analysis to the corresponding marker locations, the definitive pathological analysis of the target tissue at the marker locations can be correlated to corresponding locations on a functional image of the target tissue. The correlation of the marker locations and pathology to the corresponding locations on a functional image can then be used to prescribe and apply modulated therapy to the target tissue.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 5279968
Abstract: An improved method for radio-labelling leucocytes in vitro with Tc-99m d,1-HMPAO (Technetium-99m-d,1-hexamethyl propyleneamine oxime) for use in scintigraphic imaging of inflammatory lesions enhances the labelling efficiency by incubating the leucocytes with Tc-99m d,1-HMPAO in the presence of an acid citrate dextrose solution and by depleting residual RBCs from the leucocytes prior to such incubation step. The RBC depletion is accomplished by means of a rocking step.

  • Patent number: 5093104
Abstract: An improved method for radio-labelling leucocytes in vitro with Indium In-111 oxide (Indium In-111 oxyquinoline) for use in scintigraphic imaging of inflammatory lesions and abscesses enhances the leucocyte specific labelling efficiency by depleting residual RBCs from the leucocytes prior to labelling. The RBCs are depleted from the leucocytes by means of a rocking step.
