  • Patent number: 6352966
Abstract: The cleansing bar is comprised of at least one fully neutralized alkali metal salt of an alkyl or alkenyl succinic acid in which the alkyl or alkenyl group is a straight chain alkyl or alkenyl group containing about 8-14 carbon atoms.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: March 5, 2002
    Assignee: Albemarle Corporation
Inventors: Valerie N. Legloahec, Patrick C. Hu, Deborah A. Quebedeaux, Conrad J. Langlois, Jr.
  • Patent number: 6035869
Abstract: Dishes are cleaned by washing them with a cleaning implement which has been charged with the detergent in a solid block made from a formulation having a water-soluble alkali metal salt content of 15-60% by weight and a surfactant content of 10-70% by weight, said surfactant comprising 15-100% by weight of at least one amine oxide corresponding to the formula RR'R"NO .multidot.nH.sub.2 O in which R and R' are independently selected from methyl, ethyl, and 2-hydroxyethyl, R" is a primary alkyl group containing 12-16 carbons, and n represents 0, 1, or 2.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 29, 1998
Date of Patent: March 14, 2000
    Assignee: Albemarle Corporation

  • Patent number: 6010996
Abstract: A quaternary ammonium compound is combined with a water-soluble anionic surfactant having a hydrophile/lipophile balance (HLB) of 14 or above to form a biocidal/surfactant composition in which the amount of (ii) is up to 50 wt % of the total weight of these components. In the presence of water or other suitable aqueous media, such compositions appear to form a soluble charge complex. But whatever actually happens in the aqueous medium, the surfactant properties of the quaternary ammonium compound are improved without jeopardizing or impairing its germicidal properties.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 1, 1998
Date of Patent: January 4, 2000
    Assignee: Albemarle Corporation
Inventors: Patrick C. Hu, Joe D. Sauer, Deborah A. Quebedeaux, Conrad J. Langlois, Jr.
  • Patent number: 5922669
Abstract: Improved results are obtained in the no-rub cleaning of hard surfaces when the cleaner used in the process is an aqueous solution of (A) about 40-50% by weight of a nonionic surfactant mixture of an alcohol ethoxylate and a C.sub.8-16 alkyldimethylamine oxide in a weight ratio of about 5-15/1 and (B) correspondingly, about 60-50% by weight of one or more nitrogenous builders.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 10, 1997
Date of Patent: July 13, 1999
    Assignee: Albemarle Corporation
Inventors: Deborah A. Quebedeaux, Conrad J. Langlois, Jr., Joe D. Sauer, Patrick C. Hu
  • Patent number: 5858921
Abstract: Glyphosate formulations which are effective even when employed at dosages below the dosage currently recommended for post-emergent herbicidal or plant growth regulant use are described. They are formulated as water solutions or powders or granules of (a) one or more agriculturally acceptable salts of glyphosate, e.g., amine, ammonium, alkali metal, alkylsulfonium, alkylphosphonium, sulfonylamine, and/or aminoguanidine salts of glyphosate; (b) at least one water-soluble long chain aliphatic hydrocarbyl dimethyl amine oxide in which the hydrocarbyl group is a linear or substantially linear saturated or olefinically unsaturated aliphatic group having in the range of about 8 to about 22 carbon atoms; and (c) at least one water-soluble quaternary ammonium halide having in the range of about 8 to about 40 carbon atoms in the molecule.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 28, 1996
Date of Patent: January 12, 1999
    Assignee: Albemarle Corporation
Inventors: Ralph W. Magin, Joe D. Sauer, Dru L. DeLaet, Deborah A. Quebedeaux

  • Patent number: 5700760
Abstract: Glyphosate formulations which are effective even when employed at dosages below the dosage currently recommended for post-emergent herbicidal or plant growth regulant use are described. They are formulated as water solutions or as powders or granules of (a) one or more agriculturally acceptable amine, alkali metal, alkylsulfonium, alkylphosphonium, sulfonylamine, and/or aminoguanidine salts of glyphosate as the only herbicide or plant growth regulant used in forming said composition; and (b) a trihydrocarbyl amine oxide surfactant as the only surface active component used in forming said composition.
