More specifically, the present disclosure relates to the identification and use of monoubiquitination of histone 2B as a biomarker for the diagnosis and prognosis of cancer including, but not limited to, parathyroid cancer. The present disclosure also relates to the identification of binding between CDC73 and RNF20, and the use of CDC73 and RNF20 in an assay for screening for an agent that modulates monoubiquitination of a histone protein.
